Exactly. People need to man up and accept that this kind of weather is typical for the Deep South. If you don’t like it, move to Alaska. It’s that simple.

We are in a month long drought in Alabama. Grandma isn’t declaring a state of emergency and asking for money. Typical summer weather. My crawfish farming friends will be happy soon I bet. Drought we get paid, freeze we get paid.

It's a fricking drought. Yes, he is supposed to mobilize resources just like with any other weather issue.

You're so right. Common sense. Just think that all the people who downvote you and downvote this much-needed move, vote. Ugh! No wonder.

You know that this means “spend taxpayer money” right?

South of 98. My grass is brown and crunchy. Fairhope mayor is going wacko and has a water moratorium.

He didn't do this for the extreme cold back in December, and extreme cold kills more people in this country than extreme heat.

I am not a JBE supporter in any way but I’m sure he would have issues a state of emergency had we seen several weeks of single digit temps like we are now with 100+ heat

Of the 23 years of the Drought Monitor in it's current form (which is also the most convenient for comparison), comparing specifically this week in August to all others, 14 years saw at least Moderate Drought somewhere in the state of Louisiana.

You need to show this to the good mayor.

The vast majority of those years show Moderate drought in small pockets of the state. This year is the first year with Extreme or Exceptional Drought since 2011.

Moderate drought in a corner of Louisiana is apparently typical, with some brushes of Abnormally Dry. Severe, Extreme, and Exceptional Drought in the second week of August in Louisiana has not been typical this century. According to the Drought Monitor in its current form.

Does that dipshit seriously think the entire state gets their drinking water from the Mississippi River?
