Bingo.

The ISD push came as an outgrowth of attempts to reform the EBRPSS and being told, effectively, “This is ours, go make your own.”

The state legislature killing the ISD and saying “form a city” brought us to the next step.

And then the parish getting fricky with signatures and incorporations to strategically block the incorporations killed the first effort without a vote, galvanizing support.

SWB blatantly fricking over much of the parish in favor of NBR was the death blow for BR as it created a big push to limit the damage she could do.

That's a stupid statement. That is exactly what is happening and everybody knows it.

Jesus Christ, are you 16? Do you not understand unincorporated vs incorporated? Have you ever seen those signs when riding with your parents that say "Baton Rouge Corp Limit?"

How can you be old enough to type on this forum but be able to comprehend that this area is NOT CURRENTLY BATON ROUGE?

Is there wall I can bang my head into around here?

This is not an effort to split up the city of Baton Rouge. That is a talking point that Broome’s office repeats. It’s factually inaccurate.

yes this "WHY DON'T YOU THINK OF THE CHILDREN?" argument totally fails for this reason. if your argument against StG is educational opportunities, then your argument has failed

You should put your house up for sale now because those tax dollars lost have to be made up somewhere.

That area may have been called Baton Rouge but it was never part of the city.

Think of it as the city of BR’s long term girlfriend. They wanted to be treated as a wife and were told they weren’t going to get a ring, so they walked. Now she is with someone else and BR is crazy jealous because they want her money.

The guy makes a good point.

Our govt. is inefficient. We have all these independent taxing agencies who take in the same amount of tasked no matter what and don’t poll their money allowing each to be extravagant and horde large surpluses.

They don’t work together and they don’t do what’s best for the parish, they do what’s best for them.

The message is keep the status quo, be patient, and in time it will all work out.

But the winds of change is blowing and folks have heard the promises before and they no longer have any patience.

Mayor Broome, let my wipipo go!

Let us now sing our anthem:

Hail to thee, St. George!
Hail to thee, our city of love!
From the waters of the Mississippi
To the Hoo Shoo Too Road!
And from South Harrell's Ferry
to the town of Prairieville!

Hail to thee, St. George!
Liberated from the Broome!
Hail to thee, St. George!
Our hearts are with you always!

So, now, there is an impetus to get better together because of the threat of St. George? What about the last few decades? There’s only so many failed “next times” that folks will tolerate. I’ve been in the area for about 10 years and I’ve seen regression rather than progression.

Can’t wait until the wall goes up.

Not by St George to keep people out but by Baton Rouge to try and keep money and businesses in.

And we probably would. But the leadership in Baton Rouge has made it plain that ‘working together’ is not what they want. Only now, with a gun to their collective head, are they starting to sing “Kumbaya”.

I hate to break it to you but the school is going to change the kids. Only parents can do that. You can put them in a billion dollar facility and its still gonna produce retards if the parent isn't involved. That's why almost every school in BR is failing. It's full of shitbird kids that were birthed by shithead parents.

And this effect has no racial limit...like Michael Jackson sang, "Doesn't matter if you're black or white." If the parents are shitty and don't care about the child's education, then the kid probably won't care either.
