Based upon what I know at this time, uniform officer was responding to a call of sexual assault.

Prayers for that officer and his family. He leaves behind a wife and two children.

It's hard for anyone to fathom the damage done to the area unless they've lived it and witnessed it as we did.
It not reversible unless the trash is priced out and complexes demolished.

The new property going in just past manchac is in fact tax credit.

Sacred Heart, can you imagine how many gunshots close by warnings they have in a week?

What is it going to be then? I had read prior to a post on here that it was going to be some type of government assistance and assumed section 8.

Would be better news if what you are saying is true.

You can't blame landlords on section 8, literally no one prefers section 8 tenants. Section 8 standards are a pita and they pay less than what you'd otherwise prefer to get in rent. Section 8 happens because it's literally the last option, no one else will rent. An apartment complex is about to go bankrupt so it section 8s, etc. There's a dirt cheap home no one else wants, so someone buys it to section 8. If there were other options like flipping or renting to someone better for more money almost always those are taken.

The way you prevent section 8 in the city from happening is better city planning. Don't allow junk on the inner city that will go to waste. Don't allow over building of cheap homes and apartments. Section 8 is the last step in decline, but it's not what caused the decline that already happened.

That's how the developer of St. Jean got his book in the area.
For the first year St. Jean wasn't section 8.
Then after the first year they slowly started taking vouchers and within 3 years the entire complex was nothing but new blacks to the area.
I had a year lease shortly after it opened and didnt even make it to a full year before moving out because of all the car break ins.

it's 221(d) market rates housing. Just because it's HUD financed doesn't make it Section 8.

That is, I'm referring to
Manchac Lake Apartments

And the criminal that did this is currently in an undisclosed local hospital, I sure hope they were gentle with him while starting an IV and catheter

You are dead wrong on every account.
There are 3 brand new complexes just built on Hooper Rd. Near Plank that are nothing but section 8.

When property owners cannot fill those apartments, quietly they will begin to section 8. So you will either get shitheads or poorer people trying to get out of their hell holes they lived in.

I've watched luxury apartments go to section 8, after only 5-6 years. Sure, they brought in some immigrants, but also some shitheads. Now place always has a cop car with it's lights on. These places were getting 1K+ a month, just for 1 bedrooms with a den.

Oh really? Because mine started taking it last summer. And it'd be strange if they were on the brink of going bankrupt seeing how they just cleared 30 acres of land to build more buildings.

He may be thinking of the huge complex going up behind rouses.

Unless the flood changed things, the place off airline is tax credit.

For some situations, you're spot on. But there are apartments/condos/houses built with the sole intent of making them Section 8.

It's guaranteed money for the owner.

But it brings in crime and destroys an area quick. And the honest working class (white/black/Hispanic) doesn't want to raise their kids around that, so they move and then the whole area of town becomes ghetto. Case in point: O'Neal Lane, Siegen Lane, soon to be Prairieville right across Parish line, etc.

People are scared to address the elephant in the room.

White people aren't doing this. Period.
Nothing racist about stating facts.

Reason number 85457 I moved out of BR.
I'll drive an extra 10 mins to Prairieville and avoid all the "culture" in BR.

Shameful.

Truth, especially about the desegregation of schools.

Also, I can never figure out why municipalities let developers run wild.
