You can't blame landlords on section 8, literally no one prefers section 8 tenant

Then make the developer be on the hook to tear it down. Stop permitting so much multi-family housing to keep rates reasonable and the owner can reinvest in upkeep.

We're I king of BR, I'd make every developer who wants to build some new multi million high rise be responsible for removing an equal or greater number of dilated units in the same area out of service.

I'm referring to 17950 Airline Hwy, Prairieville, Louisiana 70769, Manchac Lake Apartments.

It is financed with a guaranty from HUD under the 221(d) market rates financing programs

Louisiana is one of the lowest ranking states when it comes to education. There's gotta be a correlation between the 2.

The correlation is that there is a 32% black population and 20% of the overall population that is below the poverty line.

East Baton Rouge parish's free fall is due to demographic changes and their effect on elections and society. St. George will slow white flight and help save the parish from itself. It's that simple. Killing St. George will accelerate the already rapid decline in EBR's quality of life.

I don't disagree with the direction of this thouggt, I'm just not convinced the outcome would be that beneficial versus the trade offs/ costs of having To duplicate the entire government system since you're still next door.

I see it as you and your neighbor agreeing to keep your houses up and well maintained while the remainder of your subdivision turns to vacant or rental houses. Even though you took care of your house, you're being impacted /pulled down by the surroundings And you're spending a fortune to maintain your house to try to overcome the others.

Edit : just read back in this thread and my point Of view seems to play out with the talk of Section 8 housing over near lake a white oak and how it's impacting the area. I see a larger scale model of these comments with st George/ Baton Rouge

Not sure if posted yet or not but apparently the name of the sheriff that was killed is Shawn Anderson. He delivered a baby on the side of the road last year.

And that 20% has no real desire to stop the cycle, from generation to generation. It's "culcha". The ones that do good for themselves are chastised for doing so.

My thinking was that an ISD for SG coupled with the others in place now could provide better environments for young families to remain in EBR instead of leaving for neighboring parishes.

It would help traffic problems by keeping people "home" and let the EBR school system address their unique issues.

It's sorta like "white flight" without the "flight" part; just the tax dollars leaving BR and being redirected to St George( south Baton Rouge).

Exactly. The goal is for St. George to have its own "neighborhood schools" (read: Predominantly White) so all of the white flighters won't have to pay to send their kids to private schools.

These people were all excited about Jindal's school voucher program. However, it turned out that all of the "white flight" schools (like Parkview, St. Michael's) and more established schools (like Catholic and Episcopal) would not take the voucher money. Only shitty charter schools and "storefront" schools (that only cater to poor and minority kids) take state voucher money (for the most part).

Soon after they realized that their kids wouldn't be getting voucher money or their schools wouldn't be accepting it, is when the St. George movement really gained steam.

Majority white neighborhood public schools. That's what St. George is all about. In a nutshell.

If only people would respect the family and not post anything until it has been made public by the department.

But everyone wants to be first and get there before anyone else.

By now, his family certainly knows. I don't think anyone here, at this time, is worried about breaking any news. It's more matter of fact now in my opinion.

I understand where you're coming from in terms of respecting the process but the news cycle and it's pushers have zero respect for the feelings of the loved ones of tragedy. Only those who wish to profit off of the souls of the dead to twist it to their gain would release this kind of info early.

Hence, it came from Gary Chambers' FaceBook. I only copied and pasted.

That's what the opposition promotes.

Control of own tax money and schools is the real reason.
