You do realize that we already pay for school taxes? You think we’ll be paying for BR schools and StG schools? Explain how my taxes would go up mathematician.
Reading this thread tells you most here don’t understand how this all works.
For instance few realize that right now the Parish Council, the school boards, BREC and all these entities that collect property taxes have the power to roll back your property taxes. If they do that’s good.
People should be e mailing these people telling them not to roll them forward, but to roll them back,

Let's not forget that all SG people wanted was a school district and she refused
Yet they refused to go to polls to elect the father of movement and ensure SWB didn't get elected.

Because the St. George ISD will almost certainly have a higher mileage than EBRPSS, similar to Zachary and Central.
School system millage rate:
EBRPSS: 43.45
Central: 60.08
Zachary: 67.2

While we're also on the subject of Mayor Broome. The St. George fight is front and center. But everybody is forgetting about the insane storm water runoff "not" tax that she tried to pass and implement? I don't remember the exact rate, but it was $X per square foot of impermeable surface area, including driveways, concrete, and roofs.
Eta: all because the parish has mismanaged its stormwater/MS4 for years and the EPA had to step in.

You are just fearmongering. You don’t know this.
A new SG ISD will be funded in a similar fashion as is the EBRSS which receives a 1% sales tax and the 43.45 millage. Of course there are also state and federal funds.
I’d suspect that property values overall are higher in SG than they are in Central, Zachary and Baker which means more revenue at a lower millage. I’d also think that there are more and larger businesses in SG which will again bring in higher revenues.
Then there is a big wild card. Many families send their kids to private schools. How many students would a SG ISD initially have? How many schools will they need? Teachers? Buses? Etc.?
I suggest that it’s way to early too make any predictions about the overall financial position of a SG ISD.

They think we are stupid. They tried lying to us to raise our taxes. Now they are ignoring the issue and pushing it down the road.

Oof. Sounds like a tough situation. I'd assume that the person who let literally all of BR's taxbase walk off may not be reelected but who are we kidding here?

East Baton Rouge Parish Property Taxes increasing to pay for the money that will be lost to City of St. George.
No tax has been passed for this, nor will one.
Property has been reassessed.
Now, is it possible there are shenanigans with new assessments to increase revenue to pay some StG related costs? That's another question.

Anyone else noticed their property tax bill been increased substantially by the Brian Wilson Tax Accessor?
Nah, that can't be it...

That's because nothing has changed yet. Just wait, the eventual school district will probably increase your property tax by a decent amount.
Raised my kids in AP. I’m perfectly happy paying more to ensure STG kids have great schools

You pay for what you get…….
Unless you lived in unincorporated EBR for the last 20 years.
