Not sure why they even held an emergency vote if their approval wasn't even required.

Well we don’t know. Parish attorney says she doesn’t have the power. But frick it. If ATC and Broome both say open, I’d open regardless. Who is left to enforce it either way?

Guessing SWB expected them to pass it, when they didn’t they started the who is in charge fight

3-A says the governing authority of the Parish
quote:

"If the council did not vote to approve, it is the parish attorney's belief then that there is no authority to reopen the bars," Parish Attorney Andy Dotson said during the virtual meeting.

The situation was further complicated when the mayor disputed the parish attorney, arguing that she has the power to opt in to reopening bars.

Isn’t that sort of like their job or something? Like to show up and vote on things.

Mayor Broome must be feeling some election heat.

Chuana and certainly Tara Wicker aren’t going to do anything to help out Mayor Broome before the election and Lamont Cole is a fat sack of shite so it’s no surprise he didn’t show up.

I’ll give Broome credit for doing the right thing in this case. The Metro Council all need fo be replaced.

Just a really weird situation all around. So many no shows. Dems don't show up to approve what Broome requested. Attorney says we can't reopen.

Attorney is wrong, or maybe he isn't, and we get to reopen. So the whole emergency vote was essentially pointless.

It's hard to find motives in a government filled with incompence.

SWB sent it to the council knowing that the Democratic members would no-show and Watson and the rest of the Council would look bad. She didn’t even need their approval. Now she can say the Council didn’t do this, I did. As bad as she is at being mayor, she knows how to play dirty politics better than any of them.

Watsons Facebook

quote:

The Metropolitan Council held a special meeting to vote to opt in to letting bars open because EBR met the Governor's Covid orders. Here is what happened:

The following council members where present for the special meeting called to reopen bars based on the fact the EBR has met the Governor's guidelines to allow bars to open:
Trae Welch
Scott Wilson
Erica Green
Denise Amoroso-meeting sponsor
Dwight Hudson-meeting sponsor
Matt Watson-meeting sponsor
Jenn Racca-meeting sponsor

Strangely, one of our co-sponsors of the special meeting-District 3 Councilman Chandler Loupe-was absent.

Of the members who did show up to do their job, 6 voted to open the bars while Councilwoman Erica Green voted to abstain. Her choice to abstain combined with the lack of participation AND INTENTIONAL POLITICAL GAMESMANSHIP of Councilmembers Banks, Collins-Lewis, Cole, and Wicker caused the failure of the motion to allow bars to open and those employees to return to work.

When Councilman Welch began asking ABC Director Chris Cranford to estimate how many businesses would remain shuttered and residents left without a job, Councilwoman Green fled the meeting. This caused council to loose a quorum and forced the meeting to stop.

WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER EMERGENCY MEETING FOR THIS FRIDAY. Hopefully we can get more Councilmembers to take the time to help these hardest hit small businesses.

Here’s how it works: Download the LineLeap app and select the 30 minute time slot you want to arrive at for the night. Arrive within your time slot and show the doorman your pass. Prob not many cause the ATC pushed for this. They don’t want to enforce this stuff anymore. Unless they are deliberately staying open/serving after 11 they should be fine.

If you think that makes him a piece of shite, you should know that he sued the PARENTS of the kid who drove his kid to that drug deal which lead to his kid getting shot.

Oh these are just a few of the reasons he’s a piece of shite, but it just serves to point out that his status as a piece of shite is just that much reinforced. Chandler Loupe might be the biggest piece of shite in EBR, outshitting even John Delgado and Tommy Spinosa combined.
