No it’s not. No camera on the driver side, and it has stock hub caps

You cycle through intersections on crosswalks? You seem like the type.

If that pic came from the article at any point, it’s fair play. It’s not graphic

Same exact thing here. And I rode a ton in the Chuck to Laffy and all sorts of training routes in between. Used to race for Pack and Paddle in Laffy.

And then I moved to Colorado where I thought, damn, cycling mecca! That was in 1988 and my first ride into the hills I damn near had my head taken off by a full beer bottle thrown by some mountain trash that didn't feel they should share the road.

It was at that point I realized there are assholes everywhere.

Blah blah blah

The problem is, it's not the drivers fault that the state builds roads that hold 2 vehicles, but not much else for room.
Tell me this..why are there minimum speed limits on many highways? I'll tell you why, a lower vehicle's are as much of a danger as speeding vehicles..probably more dangerous.
On small busy highways, the drivers a tough to watch the oncoming traffic. It's not a normal thing for there to be bikes IN THE LANE on a fast moving highway.
I don't know the answer to a cyclists issues with riding. I do know that it's as dangerous as a jogger running on that highway.
I guess a car could follow them closely and use hazards warning drivers about cyclists.

All of these images are being posted by news outlets, it's not as if these are secretly being taken by someone at the scene.

Shitty infrastructure is a big part of the road safety problem in Louisiana. Not just for cyclists, but for motorists that have to share the road with truckers and everyone else.

I know, I know. Seriously though...where I bike at...everyone else on a bike also does it. The only time I'm on my bike on the roads...is riding in my neighborhood to get onto the greenbelt(the shared path) and when I am crossing in a crosswalk.

And these are crosswalks attached to the actual shared paths that is like a giant side walk (but not) along some of the roads here.

The state designates almost every one of those roads as passing roads. Which gives a full lane to safely pass a bike

Intelligent start...

Nor the cyclists...

Not following here.

I don't disagree with that.

What?

Agreed.

Look, LIKE I SAID, I don't immediately place all blame on the drivers, so I can only assume that you read the first part of my post, skipped the rest, and then started with "Blah blah blah".

Yes, there are times when cyclists place themselves in harms way, and that can lead to accidents.

That's illegal to do on a bike in pretty much every state.

That definitely doesn't mean it's legal or smart to ride through a pedestrian crosswalk. You move a lot faster on a bike than on foot, which surprises the motorists and gives them no time to react.

Unless there is a dedicated bike lane, you really should merge with the motorists at those intersections at wait at the light, walk the bike across, or ride very slowly. Saving a couple of minutes isn't worth getting hit.

Except Arizona....

LINK

quote:

On June 8, 1998, the City Attorney authored a letter concluding that, “In any event, it is apparent that under the present
state of the law in Arizona a bicyclist is not prohibited from riding on or across a crosswalk at an intersection nor upon a marked
crosswalk connecting the extension o a bicycle path.”

quote:

Riding a Bicycle in a Crosswalk IS Permissive and Lawful in Arizona.

So THERE...totally following AZ laws

Bikers tend to enjoy scenic routes, hence why he was probably riding on that particular road.
White SUVs are driven by MILFs, so I'm taking it that the driver wasn't paying attention to the road at the important time.
Further, one issue is the sun or glare, and going around curves, etc. These could all be factors as well.

1) It's not solely a pedestrian crosswalk but a crosswalk that is an extension of the shared path...one where bikes are totally legal to be on

2) It's totally legal by AZ laws

3) Because of all the idiots on the road..I never just blindly ride through a crosswalk. I always pay attention to the traffic and never go full speed through one anyways

simply for riding a bike where it was legal for me to do so.

This is what I don't get (when it comes to the people who get mad at cyclist) Well, maybe I should say this is what I think many people don't understand. They have a legal right to do it.

There are laws that allow people to do things that not everyone agrees with, but if the law allows it then you have to respect it.

No one knows what caused this situation or who is at fault (if anyone at all), but one thing is for sure, people, especially in South Louisiana. I say this just from what I see driving down river road. Vehicles coming up on cyclist and speed up as they pass them.. as if they are pissed because they had to go around them, people slowing down while they pass them up.. as if they are yelling something at them, etc.

And on several occasions, I have seen people do things as if they were trying to scare them. Maybe that wasn't the case every time, it might have just looked that way, but I never understood.. Especially on River Road in West Baton Rouge through Iberville Parish, where there are a lot of cyclist, why people get so mad when they come across them.
