But...that is also a state more friendly to cyclists. I doubt Louisiana will ever be such a state. Posts in this thread remind me why.

Because most cyclists in Louisiana are fricking assholes

Which is a by product of Louisiana driver's being shite to begin with. As evidenced by the daily topics of traffic accidents in BR posted here, daily.

No frick you. I'm not getting into an argument with you in this thread. Until some kind of solution is reached bodies are going to continue to pile up. A bicyclist was hit on river road a couple of weeks ago. Until a solution is reached, yes everyone has to shoulder some of the responsibility. If you want to put your life in the hands of distracted drivers go ahead. I hope you have a life insurance policy for your loved one's.

Which makes it even stupider to want to bike on the same roads with them.

If I stopped doing things because of stupid people, I'd be called a hermit.

So, yes the cicylist has the right of way to ride on the road. I get it. But doing it on a dangerous road is just stupidity. Again sure they have proven they have right to ride in the road, even a dangerous one, but what good is it if you are dead??!!!!

And there are wrecks every day. Do you drive to work? Do your loved ones? Yes. Being on a road, in any capacity, comes with the possibility of an accident. That doesn’t mean it’s the fault or “responsibility” of a victim not to be hit being someone being a shite driver. That’s bullshite.

The danger is because of stupid drivers. I don't read news articles about bike paths being dangerous. It's because of stupid drivers, not the fricking road.

This argument of “well people suck st driving so let’s blame the cyclist” is one of the dumbest arguments I continually read.

We don’t blame the distracted drivers. We blame the innocent cyclist. Why?

Maybe instead of yelling at cyclists to stop riding on the roads, focus on yelling at drivers to pay better attention? Seems like the obvious thing to do to me.

Buddy was a great guy and didn’t deserve to die the way he did.

No it’s dangerous because you’re riding a 10 pound bike going at best a third of the posted speed limit. By doing so you force every single other person on the road to react to you.

Let’s take the bicycle completely out of the question.

I’m driving my car down a straight road going 15 in a 55. Now, every car that comes up on me has to change what they’re doing. They have to slow down, pass me, whatever.

Me, the driver of the car, am forcing everyone else to react to my driving speed, which puts them and myself at danger whenever they do what they have to do.

Just like on the interstate. The car going below the speed of traffic is exponentially more dangerous than the car going above the speed of traffic.
