Really good fresh fruit (especially mangos)

It’s insane how much different and better tropical fruit is when you’re near where it’s actually grown.

What we get commercially here is like a bad photocopy of what it’s like fresh off the tree.

I mean the same is true to a lesser extent with peaches and citrus, but it’s far more noticeable with mango, papaya, etc.

Sounds interesting. What countries have you worked in that you felt in danger and which ones were surprisingly safe for what I assume is a white person?

Nigeria was the most unsafe I've been in. Sao Tome was my favorite. Very friendly people and beautiful place. Went there for a vacation. I had booked at a resort on a small island on the southern tip of the main island. Didn't realize until I landed I needed to sort my own transport to the boat dock. There were no taxis available at the small airport so I dipped into a small local bar to have a beer and figure it out. Started talking with a local and he offered to take me and the girlfriend to the boat dock. We went by his family's house for him to drop something off, picked up some beer and off we went. We got to the drop point and it was a small wooden dock in the middle of nowhere. 5 minutes later a diving boat pulls up to take us across. The guy had called the resort to let them know we were coming when we stopped by his family's house but didn't tell me anything just to mess with me a little. Very cool guy and one of my favorite trips.

This is a big deal in terms of the human impact. Not a worry for the world, but a shite ton of people in Africa are going to die of all ages

Maybe, but Ebola kills so quickly that a widespread outbreak is almost impossible.

I remember one of the nurses in Dallas, Nina Pham. I also remember a full hazmat team broke into her apartment to incinerate all her possessions, including her dog.

Thankfully, both Nina and Bentley survived.

Ebola is a fricked up disease. While Hot Zone is a little sensationalist on the effects of Ebola, I won’t soon forget the story of the French guy collapsing in the emergency room waiting area and explosively shitting out blood along other stuff

It's definitely noticeable with citrus too, California oranges are dry AF compared to oranges grown in the Southeast. And a homegrown Meyer Lemon is like turning a store bought lemon up to 11

100%. I had lemons in southern Italy and it was like I had never had an actual lemon before. Unreal.
