Eating Mushrooms Really Make You Sick?

I’ve always heard eating mushrooms will frick you up or even kill you. But I don’t know anyone who has ever eaten wild mushrooms besides my friends who get high off them.
Was this a psyop? How come grocery store mushrooms are straight but lawn mushrooms supposedly will unalive me?

Certain ones, yes. Some can kill you and others will just make you wish you were dead.

If you eat the wrong ones it can kill you. Eat the right ones or make tea from them and you will get as high as giraffe arse.

Your know what else is crazy? You can eat steak raw as tartar but they tell you even slightly undercooked chicken can get you sick. Makes no sense.

Don’t eat those crappy white mushrooms you see at every grocery store. I’d recommend hen-of-the-woods. Very earthy and unique flavor. Sautee with some butter and herbs.

Chanterelle mushrooms are fantastic, never been sick. I'm not brave enough to eat any other wild mushrooms without someone knowledgeable verifying they are an edible variety. Facebook has several groups with lots of experts

There are good apps out there to help with ID, but I don't even trust them on anything I don't already know pretty well.
