Shouldn't be a problem considering he's an LSU fan

I learned to read German last year. Took me about four months, but I worked at it every day for two to two and a half hours.

German is a fun language and I encourage you to learn it, but beware of one thing... the grammar can be pretty nasty once you get past the basics. Make sure you understand parts of speech and their terminology before learning the structure of German. That will help.

The articles are also super tricky in German. French is easier. Le, la, les > die, das, der.

Took this in high school thru tell learning. Got in my class uncle sent him a French book with all the dirty words and phrases.

That’s all I remember from French class that book and some words and phrases that would get me banned

I can ask in perfect French (69 me please) LOL

Dutch is surprisingly similar to English, probably more than any other language I can think of.

Either German or Spanish. With Spanish you do get the benefit of understanding 30% of what the other Romantic Languages are saying.

Yes! I lived in Old West Germany for a few years in my younger years and it is a very easy language to pick up. Only hard difference would be the accent to go along with it. I work for a German company now and it is a huge benefit to ha e that in my back pocket

Ebonics might be more useful for you depending on where you live.

German is definitely NOT easy, with its elaborate system of inflections and cases. Spanish, French and Portuguese are your best options

FWIW the Army language school considers German the easiest to learn. People who score high on the aptitude test get Mandarin, Urdu, etc. The low scorers get German.*

*There are enough native French and Spanish speakers that they don't have to teach it.

Spanish

Also the most useful. And once you learn Spanish it makes it easier to learn French and portuguese

Try the Coffeebreak German podcast. Great beginner information. There are also some grammar workbooks on Amazon that are worth the few dollars they cost to help you practice

False
Romance languages are derived from Latin.
