I would have been OK with him being a victim of the Chicago Four . . . provided that they finished the job.

I don't think these are the responses Tangerine was looking for.

He didn't get the responses he wanted because there aren't a lot of whites who are apologists for violent criminals.

"A MAN WHO REPRESENTS HIMSELF IN COURT
HAS A FOOL FOR A CLIENT."
Don't remember the person who came up with this quote but they are correct for sure.

the victim-impact evidence will take over the whole sentencing trial and guarantee that I get the death penalty," Roof wrote.

Sounds like he's playing for an insanity plea like the Colorado theater shooter.

I hope this little bitch at least gets a haircut before he died.

As horrible as what this guy did is, two wrongs don't make a right. Killing him won't solve anything.
Then why do we have any punishments? Does putting someone in jail solve the problem of someone being raped or robbed? I don't think it gives the victim their money or dignity back.

He isn't. This is the sentencing phase, and Roof has explicitly that said that there is nothing wrong with himself mentally.

It protects society from a dangerous person. Not all punishment is about revenge, more often than not it's pragmatic not emotional.
