What. The. frick.

A black drinking buddy of the white man accused of killing nine people at a black church says that a week before the attack, the suspect announced plans to shoot up a college campus.
Christon Scriven told The Associated Press on Friday that on June 10, while they were getting drunk on vodka, Roof announced plans to carry out a mass shooting seven days later at the College of Charleston.
Scriven says he thought the threat was just drunken bluster. Still, he and another friend, Joey Meek, were concerned enough that they went out to Roof's car and retrieved Roof's handgun, hiding it until they all sobered up.
On Wednesday, authorities say Roof fatally shot the pastor and eight others at the Emanuel AME Church in downtown Charleston. In interviews, Roofs friends described a troubled 21-year-old man who alternated between racist rants and partying with black friends.

Bi-polar, schizophrenia, probably narcissistic, etc. All the makings of a psycho. His "friends" should have alerted an authority figure immediately. Alas, too late. Sad state of affairs.

He's a psychopath that can't be cured, reasoned with and/or rehabbed. He's a sick animal that needs to be locked up or put down.

I want to know more about the black friend angle. Reports have stated that he had several. I think those wanting to say he was bullied by black kids are way off base.
There's more to this than we're finding out now. We may not know the whole truth but there are some holes that can be filled

I'm definitely interested in learning more about this tPOS.
I think we will find out a lot more in the coming days / weeks.

I'm curious why it seems Charleston was his target. He lives in Columbia and went to high school in Lexington.
His friend Meeks said he talked about opening fire on College of Charleston's campus and theorized that since its difficult to get on their campus he changed his target after he couldn't get on.
Also strange that he wanted to open fire on College of Charleston's campus since its not a historically black college. And summer.

Supposedly he researched places and found out how historic it was so he decided to shoot it up

Right and if Meeks is correct and College of Charleston was his initial target and he couldn't get on their campus he could have done the research on his smart phone while down there.
But it still seems strange. If his original goal was to kill black people then College of Charleston doesn't make sense.

Im curious to know what he did after the shooting till the time he was caught.
He told investigators that he was heading to Nashville because "he had never been there before"
He also said he was shocked that he wasn't caught immediately after the shooting spree and was able to make it out of charleston

Seeing and hearing the family members of the victims express forgiveness to the scum who murdered their loved ones is truly moving. They are much better Christians than I am.
He would have saved a lot of heartache, time, and expense if, after reflection of just just how kind these people were to him, he turned the gun on himself rather than executing innocents.
Just sickening.

Its being labeled racism (and it is), but this has more to do with a twisted, sociopathic animal. Race was but his motivator....at some point he would've killed people for any number of reasons.
Like a rabid dog, put him down.
Yup the focus has somewhat shifted from the actual crime to the racism talk. He attacked a bunch of innocent people, so his motive imo is (kind of) irrelevant.
Oh and you have politicians turning it into a gun control issue, which isn't surprising but always seems fricked up.

It seems his motives may have been a little all over the place outside of "I want attention/to be known"
I would venture it wholly possible that in his mind the motivation to be an instigator in a historic race war could have been much more about propelling himself in the media given our current climate and his views of black people secondary.

Certainly not my take on current race relations and I lived in DC during the 60's...including the riots of '68. There will always be racial intollerance and hatred, but it is hard to deny that things are not significantly better than it used to be.

Agreed.
It made me want to visit those people, if that makes sense.
IDK, it was very moving to me and I want to do something for them, besides the obvious of offering them up in prayer.
I have to think on this...

I started a thread on his "manifesto" and my biggest take away so far is I think he was labeled as "white trash" maybe by other whites and resented black people for that designation?

He can only blame upper class white people for that term white trash. That term did not come black people.
He's actually hinting at interesting political/socioeconomic concept-- the idea that poor whites, literally and seemingly aren't much different than poor blacks, but the one thing they can hold their hat on is their white skin.
So some of those folks use that as a divider between the 2 groups to gain a sense of superiority to other enthnic group. Then they are loyal to the GOP and vote against their own interest because anything is better than voting with the blacks..
