We're coming down for the WM/Dutchtown game this Friday night and plan on getting there a little early. Are there any good food joints in that area or should I just stick to Baton Rouge as we pass through?

Dutchtown area itself? Not really. There are some spots in Prairieville off Airline Hwy not far from Dutchtown. Sammy’s, TJ Ribs, Alabasha’s, On the Half Shell just to name a few in the area.

It's not local, but whenever we travel up to greater Baton Rouge for football is hitting up Cracker Barrel for breakfast after the game. Yeah, I know. I'm a local joint kind of guy, but rarely is anything open at 10:30 p.m.

We're going to eat about 4:30 before the game so wanted to stick to something that wasn't a chain.

As others have said, not really in Dutchtown. Gonzales or Prairieville are your best bets close by. If you are willing to drive a bit, Roberto's in St. Gabriel is solid and better than most anything you'll see in Dutchtown, Prairieville, Gonzales. Also, ask the Food board, not the assholes on the OT.

Sno’s is a great dinner option. That’s My recommendation and is 2 miles from the school

Franks is better for brunch

The Las Palmas is decent Mexican and very close to DTHS

Kaminari (not like BR location) is very good sushi

Philays on Airline has some of the best seafood around. I highly recommend it.

Sammy's is very good. Get the prime rib poboy if you're into that sort of food. Half shell has great seafood and the Mexican place back behind TJRibs has excellent fajitas. Robertos is a bit of a hike and may have a wait. Sno's is solid also.

I live in Dutchtown. The best rec so far is Roberto's in St Gabriel. I do not like Sno's. Best restaurant within 5 miles of DTHS is Ruffino's (next exit towards BR). On the Half Shell is a solid rec as well.

Edit***

There is a new restaurant one block closer than Ruffino's. It's in front of Alexander's Market, but I forget the name. It's owned by Juban's in BR.

Deangelos is not bad, and about a quarter mile from Dutchtown High. www.louisdeangelos.com
