Or people with nicknames for actual names. Like my friend Rickey. His given name isn't Richard. It's Rickey.

I'm so glad that I gave my daughter a normal, classic name. It was normal 100 years ago and it's normal today.

I have an unusual spelling of a normal name. It's not a made up spelling though, it's just not used in the US. It's not that big of a hassle, I stopped correcting people that said or spelled it wrong in grade school.

Saw Jayson the other day and it irritated me unexpectedly.

It's stupid moms wanting their child to be "unique" because they see them as an accessory to them and not an actual kid that will grow up

Well, if the OP is working with this guy, I'd say this "mistake" predates the advent of social media.

If my sons Jaxsyn and Brynden could read, they’d be very upset.

Most misspelling dont bother me..

But this one really did. I think it was the shortening and then extension of the original.

Like taking Nicolas, shortening it to Nick... and then coming up with Nickolause

This. My daughter has a normal classic name, son has a common Biblical name.

Not a normal name but a woman seriously named her daughter "le-a" and would get angry when people pronounced it lea instead of le dash a.

We named my son Lucas. I said from the get go no travel ball names. My mom actually said she liked Jaxon, and I gave her the worst stinkeye and told her that I didn't believe her.

This is one of the worst ones I've seen, and I saw it on the way to work one morning:

It's hard to read, but it says Maaisyn (as opposed to Mason). I think I hurt my neck that morning because I was shaking my head so hard.

That probably happened... but everybody "knows" somebody that knows this mom.

I used to have an employee with a name, that when read, most people would say "Melissa". Thing is, her mom and dad pronounced it much differently. She said when she was in grade school, her mom got a call from the school asking why she had missed so many days. She hadn't, she just refused to answer roll call when her name was "mispronounced". She's 50 y/o now, and her name is still "mispronounced" by everyone that doesn't know her.

Parents can be pretty stupid when picking a name, and rarely think about the downsides of a jacked-up, weird name.

My step-daughter did this shite with our first grandchild. I didn't think it was my place to say something directly, so I warned her mother, hoping she'd say something. She didn't. The granddaughter will have her name misspelled for her entire life. No one will ever come close to getting it right, even on the 10th try. Worst of all, it would be a great stripper name, due to the spelling.

So what is the name? (Unless I missed it earlier in the thread)
