Some of you are so angry for no reason at the weirdest times.

I'm going to start my dry year after January 11.

It’s so obvious who has and hasn’t been around alcoholics
Alcoholics don’t just give up drinking for a month on a whim….

Always a good idea
Alcohol is a poison. Taking a break from constant poisoning is a healthy choice

I’m usually a dry July guy, but trying Jan this year. Hardest part will be next few weeks at camp.

i went from the end of 2022 through november 2023 without drinking and it was amazing how much i felt my brain and body change throughout that time. i will have a few drinks every now and then, but i rarely really go hardcore. I did a few weeks ago at a christmas thing and it's made me realize again how shitty drinking really is for you.
i'm getting very close to just swearing off drinking all together.

to prove something
Thanksgiving to New Year’s is a marathon of drinking opportunities.
If you celebrate Mardi Gras, there is even more on the horizon.
It seems normal and healthy for a lot of people to take a break for awhile.

I haven't had a drink in nearly a decade, but I never drank much before that. Turns out my body has a genetic issue when it tries to convert the alcohol to fatty acids it causes some weirds shite that will shorten my life and makes me miserable. I can't say I have missed it much at all.

Wait until Lent.
Lent is our 2nd chance at New Year’s resolutions.

As much as I want to participate, I doubt it's something I will do. I have a name to live up to.

I've been seriously considering it...though I guess today/tomorrow is shite or get off the pot time.
I'm bored as shite in the winter. When it's cold out, it's a pretty good time to throw back some bourbon and find some stupid, mindless thing to do every evening. Could be cooking, playing games, or just sitting around thinking. Having to face the boredom without the benefit of inebriation sounds frankly awful.

Who is participating? And what is your story? I am on the fence on whether or not I should participate this year.
I don't drink hardly at all so instead of alcohol, I'm doing a dry January with giving up sugary sweets and drinks to see if that will help me loose 10-15 lbs. This past holiday season, I've gotten a little carried away with eating too much dessert type stuff. I cook most meals at home so hopefully, with my normal weight and exercise routines just cutting out the sugary stuff will help me reach my goal by February.
