I'm leaning on giving it up for good.

Reframe app has a guided Dry or Damp January feature

Going to give it a go. Alcohol isn’t my biggest vice but I’ve got some other vices I am going to give up as well. First week of January is going to suck.

Sounds like the kind of thing borderline alcoholics do so that on February 1 they can say..."see, I'm not an alcoholic".

I am. Been drinking much too much last few months. Difficult times recently (friend and family deaths) but still my choice and fault. It’ll be a nice reset. And hopefully I will drop some pounds too.

I’m actually looking forward to it. And no, I don’t plan to drink on February 1st as a celebration or completion.

Every year and I do one in the summer as well, June or July depending on summer travel plans. Always helps a solid reset logistically, emotionally, physically, mentally, etc..

That’s true. I did dry January in Janaury of 2023 and haven’t drank since. Last night as I walked the wine aisle at the grocery store I asked myself if I missed it and wanted to bring it back for special occasions…it made my stomach turn just to imagine the hangover.

Don’t miss it at all.

I’ll be participating. Want to drop some pounds, so trying not to drink many calories. Will mainly be sticking to water.

Same. Gonna see how far I can take it.

Disney was a breeze, holidays with my family in LA was kinda tough but I did it, biggest test will today when LSU plays. If there's an LSU game on i need a drink in hand... thems the rules

Name checks out!

Good luck baws! Since Thanksgiving I’ve had 4 beers total.

Dr told me yesterday I’ve lost 10 lbs since my last visit in June. I miss shooting the shite at the shop with the guys, but I don’t miss those 10 lbs.

Yep. I’m doing it. My Birthday is in January, but it’s not that big of a deal. In my 30s birthdays aren’t some big celebration for me anymore. Will easily take a month off after the holidays in preparation for MardiGras Balls.

If you are thinking about going sober for an entire month, then you probably NEED to do it. And I think that's a good thing.

Give up drinking and do what? Workout for a few hours a day instead? What kind of psychopath are you?

I'm taking a New Year's Eve to St Patrick's Day break, so, sure.

I'm really just down to light holiday drinking now.

I don't usually do a complete "Dry January" I'll still have a drink here and there but it will be less than 5 for the entire month. I don't drink much anymore, especially in the winter. Living in the Northeast it's easy to just stay in and drink because the weather sucks and you pack on the pounds. I started logging my drinks on the health app on my iPhone. If I have a drink, I log it in and I can see when maybe I'm drinking a little too frequently. Good way to see how much you actually drink and how it can sneak up on you.

I just don't enjoy drinking as much anymore. I'll never cut it out completely, I love the tailgate and beach beers, having a drink while grilling, or one or two with friends. But the come home from work and have a drink or two has been phased out, as well as the tv beers.

I am an adult and not an alcoholic. So o have no reason to abstain from Alcohol for any period of time to prove something. But good luck in your venture.
