No shite. If I go 90 to Laffey I would avoid it but if one of you BR regulars knows what time the traffic is usually flowing smoothly I can avoid adding 45 min to an alread 6.5 hour drive. So GFY

Concur. If you hit BR anytime after 11am, you will have some level of traffic congestion. Absolutely avoid the area after 2pm

I drove to Shreveport last friday. Hit BR at 1:30...45 minutes to get through to 190. Was on 190 maybe 20 minutes. HORRIFIC wreck had me parked for 1.75 hour. Took 9 hours to get to Shreve...

To say Im trying my best to plan this one ahead of time..is putting it lightly.

What kind of person would get married in College Station during the A&M-Bama game?

The leaving Nola at 8 am plan is great. Use Google Maps with traffic turned on. Check it before every major exit when you get past Hwy 22(exit 182). That way you can bypass 10 with hwy 30 to the bridge or 61 to old bridge if new bridge is jacked.
Real key is just keep that map and traffic handy and be on look out for the ever present I-10 cluster fricks till Beaumont.

And find out if the Dixie Chicken is still a fun bar. Haven't been in 18 yrs and going to our game at A&M on Turkey Day.

I-10 headed west shouldn't be much of a problem as long as it's not during work traffic hours. So time it so that you aren't passing through between 7-9 or 4-6.

I10 West shouldn't be a problem

290 heading north during the day isn't bad but there is major construction out there near Waller that slows things down

Anyone know what time of morning the traffic is flowing smoothly through BR?

Before 6:30am or after 9am. The time in between, you'll be guaranteed a problem somewhere.

I second the Old Bridge. Leave NOLA around 7:30/8. get off at either siegen or bluebonnet. Take Airline to 190 bridge. Take that all the way to through the basin.

Unless you take 105 in Beaumont to Highway 6 in Navasota, which is what I would recommend. Longer distance but much more predictable traffic wise

back roads in texas usually are a win for me.

if i can go 55-60 and not be in traffic i can drive for 20 hours and be happy

I'd push that back to 930 or 10.

Should cruise right through at that time.

DONT go thru Houston and take Hwy 290, it's currently under construction, like others have said find a route thru Beaumont that takes you North of Houston towards the Conroe area

Sometimes it's a crap shoot even during the "good" times.

Looking out my office window at the bridge it looks like the eastbound lane is at a standstill. Google maps confirm that it's an accident.

Could just as easily be westbound lane and time of any day.

Is that REALLY faster than simply taking 90 to laffy?

US90 thru Houma, MC, and Laffy
I-10 to Houston
BW8 north to US59 north (toll road)
TX99 east to US290 north (toll road)

Run all the electronic toll booths like a boss.
