This.
I've bought wheels with practically new tires on them for $30 at a junk yard.

You're not gonna get 600 miles out of a donut regardless of speed.

JB weld the cracked rim and drive it.

if I had no other option, I would do this and put some slime in it to make sure it doesn't leak and ride it until I can get another one. If you are on the interstate it shouldn't have any impact that could potentially crack it further.

There are short term fixes for a cracked rim. But I'd look for a Mexican tire shop and see if they can weld your rim, or sell you a used steelie and tire to get you home.

I wish that was true in Louisiana.

Put on the donut spare

If I can't get a full size tire when buying a vehicle, I tell the salesman I'm walking if he doesn't come across. After four new vehicles I've yet to walk.

I know this doesn't help you now but it's something to consider in the future.

Really? I can't remember the last time I've seen a modern CAR that could fit a full sized spare in the spare tire spot.
My 1996 impala was the last CAR I had with a full size spare.
I've never had a truck or suv without a full size.
Crazy thing is, a lot if new cars don't even have spares. Just a can of fix a flat and a compressor.

How does this help someone that doesn't drive a truck or SUV? Where are you going to put a full size spare on a normal passenger car? It'll take up the entire trunk and some trunks it probably wouldn't fit in.

I'm not sure which luxury brand OP is driving, but BMW got rid of spares all together a few years ago. Run flats and tire slime repair kits are the norm now. shite sucks.

slime

Slime alone would probably the life of the tire as long as the crack didn't get any bigger. That stuff works.

I drive the internet a lot, and I'd never do it without a spare tire. I hope the OP saves his because I doubt the doughnut makes it 500 miles.

Quit being cheap. Geez man, you wanting to save a couple of dollars is putting other's at risk.

It's one thing to put your own life at risk, but putting other's at risk is mighty shitty of you.

I recently had a flat in Arches National Park in SE Utah and had to drive to Vegas in order to get a replacement tire (performance tire).....500 miles or so. I did 60 the entire way on the interstates with the donut on and it was fine.

My money is on you, baw. 300 miles in on the donut so far with cruise set on 65 and still alive. Wife just took over the wheel though, so we probably don't survive a blowout now.

Most people couldn't change a flat tire anyway and the percentage is going down daily.

I just replaced my tires for around $1,500 and I'm kickng myself in the arse for not going with run flats. Went with the same as the original tires. A full sized spare would never fit in the trunk. Glad I at least had some type of spare in there.

Nope. Go to a used tire place and get something for like $50.

Do you have Pull-a-part stores there? Get a replacement rim and maybe a decent spare for a really good price

It's a luxury vehicle with a rim that would be very hard to find - and impossible on a Sunday. I don't mind driving slow on the interstate and taking longer to get home - it's more an issue of being a road hazard/accident risk driving that slow for that long on the interstate

The faster you drive, the less amount of time for air to leak out. You should be fine at 100 mph. Check the pressure when you reach your destination.
