labor day weekend I left baton rouge (headed to Dallas) at around 6pm or so. As I get north of Alex, I noticed something that looked odd coming off the back end of a semi-trailer. As I got closer I figured it out, driver had either lost a tire or his re-tread tire disintegrated and he was driving on the rim and sparks were flying everywhere. I tried to get his attention but failed.

I just replaced my tires for around $1,500 and I'm kickng myself in the arse for not going with run flats. Went with the same as the original tires. A full sized spare would never fit in the trunk. Glad I at least had some type of spare in there.

they don't tell you have expensive run flats are to get fixed. Instead of a $5 patch up they will cost about 50 to get them patched if you have issues and they only run about 50 miles I believe.

I want a set of these if they ever come out:

army is testing them out last I heard.

What "luxury" dealer wouldn't have a shop in Dallas that's open today?

You'll have to replace the wheel when you get home anyway. Why wouldn't you have waited until this morning and not have to worry about riding the donut without a reliable spare?

ETA I'm pretty sure Dallas even has a Lamborghini dealer.

Service departments aren't even open on Saturdays much less Sundays. Wife had work and kid had school today, so I couldn't stay there another day. After 320 miles on the donut, I switched back to the cracked rim and overinflated by 5 pounds. Every 50-75 miles it would be back down to the normal psi, so I'd throw another 5 in it. Now tryng to decide between a $400 refurbished rim or a $700 new rim. Ridiculous what they charge for ugly factory rims.
