What a stupid argument. Did you really see this as a viable counterpoint?
Yes. I also RA'd this. Keep your stupid sky screaming poly board crap off the OT.
Like I said, don't buy it. Its really really that simple.
If it comes in a cardboard box and is manufactured, its probably not that great for you. Its not that shocking.
I ate Fruit Loops last week, its not that bad...
ETA: Your OP literally talked about kids preferring cocaine over sugar, lets not act like you posted anything worth watching either

You really want to make a major impact on combating metabolic syndrome in this country, ban HFCS.
HFCS is the low hanging fruit (no pun intended).
Ban that and all of a sudden the U.S. starts to get more healthy. All the rest of the stuff these activists are talking abouts are marginally unhealthy to the general U.S. population.
HFCS consumers are analogous to beer drinkers in terms of metabolism. Kids that consume lots of HFCS are basically daily beer drinkers. Stop damaging your mitochondria with that crap.
If you want to dive deep into this google pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Robert Lustig. He's made it his life's mission to warn parents about the chronic dangers of HFCS.

I get all of it, they are "poising us", but what about if we just don't buy it....
MSG is banned or restricted in around 50 countries. It is in nearly every processed food in America.
So you don't eat processed foods? Good but FYI if you eat out at a high-end restaurant you will probably consume MSG.
The point is that many of these additives are hard to avoid even with good intentions of doing so.

Teach your kids what's healthy and not healthy.
The mainstream information from the FDA and CDC is ALL propaganda with the purpose of propping up certain industries, like corn and seed oils.
It is insane.

One thing that NEEDS to happen but won't:
no junk food and no processed food should be allowed with food stamps/government subsidized grocery cards.
Only things eligible should be meats, dairy products like cheese, milk etc, grains, beans, vegetables. Frozen vegetables etc as well. No fried foods, no corn dogs and processed crap. Zero.
Staples that allow to make natural meals.

How much weight do you want to lose this year?

Get rid of government funded health insurance.
I’m right there with you.

Doesn't he make the argument that actual sugar is better for you overall than HFCS?

Different countries allow different shite... so are we saying this board supports some type of global food agency dictating ingredients? And dictating our agricultural process?
If you don't want sugar coated cereal, buy something else. There is 60 feet of cereal a minimum in every grocery store.

MSG is only bad in terms of making food taste more delicious and giving people the tendency to eat more.

100%
Med school does not teach doctors a thing about nutrition. It is quite insane.

In America if you want your food without extra chemicals you have to pay more.

Which is why it is restricted in children's food in Europe. They don't have the childhood obesity problem we do.

I'm in good shape and eat relatively ok, but I do eat fast food every once in awhile, and I put actual sugar in my 2-3 cups of coffee a day. I'm not doing the artificial sweeteners.
If I drank my coffee black (or stopped drinking it) and totally cut out crap I'd probably be in even better shape, but I don't fricking want to. I enjoy it.
So I moderate and work out.
But most Americans don't, and I do understand the struggle. Watch TV tonight. You will see about 30 commercials for just absolute crap. You're bombarded with it and its almost impossible to escape.
