Wisconsin can pave 60 miles of 3 lane interstate before 15 LADOTD workers standing around with shovels decide what to eat for lunch.

It always cracks me up when people think that DOTD workers actually build any of this stuff

Are there any posters here who work with the traffic light synchronization project? When are intersections going to start coming online with this?

It supposedly reduces total construction time by a lot. Tremendous pain for one year or merely a lot of pain for significantly longer.

You throw out “tremendous pain” as if that’s no big deal. We are talking about significantly worsening the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of people, people all coming off of two of the worst years anyone can remember. It’s an almost inconceivably callous and stupid plan.
The groups willingly subjecting citizens to this “tremendous pain” are the same ones that didn’t prevent this situation in the preceding decades.

This is a totally f’d plan that will live in infamy.

I can't believe they're going to reduce the interstate to 1 lane for 2 years, that means 3 years of headache for Baton Rouge. Whoever approved this 4 year plan needs to resign immediately. 5 years of I-10 being down to 1 lane is going to drive everyone insane.

If I had a magic wand I’d first (1) complete I-49 to NOLA and (2) jackhammer the dumbass medians and bike lanes on Government St. before this project starts.

Right!? They spent years on all that stupid arse shite. And for what, to now have it congest another viable path when they fubar the interstate?

I would think Highway 90 is going to see a huge increase in traffic.

They have been talking light synchronization in Baton Rouge for at least 15 years. Will never happen.

This section of Nicolson will also be under construction at the same time! Zero planning

Voters passed the Greenlight Plan to widen Nicholson from LSU to Lee when Kip was mayor. The intersection at Lee was approved, but to date the work on the widening project hasn’t started. It is a disgrace and an insult to voters, but what’s new? Look at SG.

The failure to do this project before 10 widening indicates the lack of planning in this parish. It should have already been completed.
Any projects in the GL and in the newer Broome MovEBR plan that would provide alternates to 10 should have been fast tracked. None were, but instead they did other less critical projects.

They are also going to widen Lee, Essen and bluebonnet during the same time period

Kip started the conversation, and it’s becoming a running joke just like the Broome Stormwater Master plan.

I bet they have changed out cameras and traffic signals at least twice at some intersections.

At least they are finally getting fiber run to a lot of intersections. Without a central communications hub for all of them, they are basically just "dumb" lights that can't adapt to traffic patterns.

Unfortunately, no better alternatives have been offered. The interstate needs to be widened. This is the only way to do that without purchasing likely tens to hundreds of millions of dollars of right-of-way through the center of the city.

JBE Smack smack just dropping this mess into the lap of the next republican governor. That is why he set it to start when he is out of office. Could have done this same plans 6 years ago.

They have to replace the 70+ year old foundation for the elevated section of highway in Baton Rouge. That’s why they have to cut it down to 1 lane. It’s not simply a widening project unfortunately. Would be a lot easier if it was.

Needs to happen. Wish there was a way to keep from closing so much of the highway.

Yep, they could certainly add a lane, but then they'll have to tear the whole thing down to replace it in 10-15 years. Unfortunately, this state has refused to invest in infrastructure, balking every time they try to increase the fuel tax. This is the result.

And when it opens, that next Governor is going to claim it as a crowning achievement, and you'll be in line to congratulate him because he has the same letter behind his name as you do.

Don't see too many liberals critical of JBE even though he's in the same position. You also ignore the very loud criticism of the majority conservative state legislature.

Not to worry, no one expect intellectual honesty out of you.
