An usher for Charleston Riverdogs baseball games (lots of evenings is the downside)
A first mate or bartender on one of the party or tour boats (though those jobs usually go to young ladies)
A starter at the local muni golf course
Something at one of the marinas...maybe work in the variety store
A walking tour guide downtown

I had an uncle who retired relatively early from a pretty good career. Then worked and retired from a second career as an ag department dean at a small college.

Finally in his late 70’s early 80’s, he did the books and worked a few shifts at the local hardware store just because he enjoyed it.

He was of the “if you sit around you die” mindset. True at any age.

smell her BS from here. No one used to being around money would regularly go to, let alone, work at a DG.

That seems a lot better than a gas station or DG

If I didn’t have to work, I would probably go back to school for fun. And I would volunteer in my spare time.

ETA: my grandpa retired at 50 and lived til 87, he spent his time fishing, cooking (both for fun and in competitions), having coffee every morning at a local convenience store with his friends, and playing cards with other friends.

I’m proud of her for not working a better job and taking it from someone else.

She’s working a gig no one wants to

Nothing. I tried it for four years and it was easy. The only reason I went back to work is because I found the right work from home position that includes health insurance. I could have gotten by without it, but this choice makes my financial future more certain. I am 60.

I'd probably do something like lawncare. I actually quite enjoy doing my own. It's quiet, I'm outside, and get to pretty much shut off everything else for a little while. It also is mentally soothing to me to clean up a yard and make it look nice. So yeah, if I had enough money where I didn't ever need to work again, I'd probably do something like that

I was off for 4-5 mos with surgery a few years ago and being stuck at home drove me crazy. i wasn't able to do any hobbies so that may have led to the boredom and monotony of only being able to go to rehab and watch tv. I have worked for over 30 years and truly think i will be able to retire and not need a job to occupy my time. Golf, fish, travel or just stay at the camp are my plans.

truly rich

I think different people have a different definition of rich. A household making $200k a year would be considered rich for some people, but I am sure if you ask that household they will tell you that $200k a year only gets you by.

If the lady has no kids and her husband makes $250k that might be a nice amount for them to live comfortable.

If her husband is a millionaire I doubt she would get a job at the dollar stop, but you never know.. Different folks for different strokes. It would be funny if she drove a really nice car that she drove to her dollar store job every day.

Probably work at a GameWare style game store so that I can get my SS quarters in while being able to sit on my arse playing video games.

I like playing games and spend some of my free hours playing retro games on an emulator box, so working in a store might give me the opportunity to get physical copies of some stuff I end up liking. Or just trying some of the stuff on sale.

I love to hunt and fish so I hope to occupy my time doing that, but if I wanted to do a job I would like to be the starter at a golf course or maybe run a bait boat in the mornings.

Due to some unique circumstances, I may have to retire sooner than I was planning. When I retire, I should be in a position where I don't actually have to work.

I'm still going to be relatively young and currently, I'm constantly doing something industrious. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself.

I keep threatening to retire early, get an RV, and drive visiting my kids and grandkids along with nieces and nephews as I travel for leisure.
