Does this mean we get the daily COVID case, mask wearing, and vaccine threads again


I am sure there will be an overreacting from the regular mayors & JBE; but the reality is the daily case numbers are ~500 since the end of June. It is a higher number than the ~300-400 a day the State was seeing from May until the end of June. But, as another poster pointed out; they need to differentiate how many of these cases/hospitalizations/deaths are from people that were vaccinated.

Remember…we are in this together.

I see a lot of downvotes. Not surprised. I've seen a jump in positive molecular tests also.

It's partially out there for LA. You just have to do the math yourself.

LDH site shows the total population at 4,663,616
32.2% of State is black, 62.2% White (including Hispanic and other races), 5.6% Other

29.8% of those with at least 1 shot are black, 59% white, & 11.2% other. For the most part, the numbers are truly representative of the actual population.


And going back to Biden's plan for 70% of adults. Louisiana has ~3.5M people 18+, ~1.7M of them have at least 1 shot; 47.6%. ~67% of the population that is 50+ has at least 1 shot (they make up 1/3rd of the State's total population)

The Hospitalization “jump” is also somewhat misleading bc there is NOT an increase across the board. The Northshore has had an increase of 27 hospitalizations in the last week (42 to 69) and South Central region had an increase of 17 in the last week ( 11 to 28). The rest of the regions are stable and still low.

Those 2 regions account for the major leap in the last week. Hospitalizations had been hovering around 300 for the past few months.

This whole thing has been driven by irresponsible statistic reporting. "Spike" is a meaningless statistic. Saying this is the biggest spike since _____ means nothing without context. A spike from 3,000 cases to 3,050 cases is smaller than a spike from 250 to 310, but which paints a more dire situation?

You can cherry pick statistics all day, but the reality is this situation is stable. Weeks are going to fluctuate but our reality isn't changing based on what the overall numbers are saying.

It’s all misleading bc it assumes all regions of the state are affected in a similar way and have similar ability to care for the sick which isn’t the case at all. We “peaked” at around 2000 hospitalizations at 2 times in the last year and a half. In April 2020 and Jan 2021. The difference being in the April surge, 50% or 1000 of the 2000 hospitalized was in NO metro area. In the Jan surge, NO metro only accounted for about 400 of the 2000.
