BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) -Interstate 10 is closed in both directions at Highland Road in Baton Rouge due to a hazardous materials situation.
A Louisiana State Police spokesman says a propane truck is leaking propane on the shoulder of I-10 eastbound near Bluff Road.
The interstate is closed westbound at Prairieville, with traffic being diverted onto Highway 73. The interstate is closed eastbound at Highland Road, with traffic being diverted onto Highland Road.
The company that owns the truck has dispatched another truck to begin offloading the product.

My GF is on the way to BR about 2 miles from the prarieville exit. She said it’s not moving. It told her to go back home to Nola as she was just coming for the night.
There is probably some already leaving due to the storm. It’s gonna take her 3 hours probably to get to Goodwood.

I’ve never seen a place with such incompetent infrastructure. I can deal with some of the other issues that Louisiana has but this is what did it for me.

What the frick does infrastructure have to do with a chemical spill? I get it. Our infrastructure and traffic sucks. But this isn’t the time for that argument.

It has everything to do with it. The entire interstate wouldn’t have to shut down for a spill if it wasn’t 2 freaking lanes damn near everywhere. Close 2 lanes and leave 1 open for slow passing traffic. It’s a joke the whole system.

They are diverting off at Prairieville. Once you get off there you are moving again.

A damn propane truck is leaking. Having internal combustion engines near it is going to be a bad idea no matter what. Don't care if it is 6 lanes.

Is this the part where the state troopers shoot at it?
