quote:That is the proposed solution.
Seems like an easy solution would be open the schools with reasonable precautions in place - get the kids an education and get their parents back to work - but what do I know?

closing down schools is a lose lose for liberals.
puts their progressive child propaganda in timeout. while letting responsible adults part of the evil nuclear family teach their own children and do so exceedingly better than the public school system.
I guess they are going all in on forcing the lower class to be 100% dependent on the welfare state?

It’s also horrible for the kids. Their POS parents aren’t going to teach them a damn thing during this time, spend whatever money they get on shite for themselves and put these poor kids further behind than they would have already been.
Imagine a 6 year old missing half a year of kindergarten then all of first grade.
The 10% of these kids that have the drive to make something of themselves through education in these groups will likely be fricked and that number will go down to 0%
All so some rich where piece of shite career politician can try and stick it to trump? Or some a-hole teacher can get paid to stay home for another year, it’s fricking pathetic.
Again what’s funny is the people FOR sending the kids back like you said are the 2 parent households that will make sure they’re kids learn and get what they need. The same kids that will be fine no matter what.

This is standard, just more out in the open.
Bring some down over bringing everyone up.

The quote says inequity not inequality.
Getting rid of inequality is good.
Getting rid of inequity is just quotas.

All the liberals I’ve heard around me are getting together and hiring full time teachers to teach their group of kids and paying the way for a couple underprivileged ethnic kids to join the group for free.

Like what Johnny Depp did in Blow?

Anyone who values education and teachers their children to value it doesn’t need to spend a fortune on tutors either.

Curious as to what rich enough liberals that can afford a private teacher consider "underprivileged".

equality of opportunity isn't enough for these people, they need equality of outcome also.

Yea, instead you should just put your kids down and tell them not to act white by getting good grades. I hear that method works well.

They aren't saying don't a get tutor if your school closes. They are saying keep schools open so you don't have to rely a tutor.
that’s a positive spin

"You can’t be mad at pods, said Lakisha Young, director of Oakland Reach, a parent-run group working with underserved families."

I don't know how any sane person could be a leftist.

Had lunch with a co worker with 3 young kids today. A 1st, 3rd, and 5th grader (to be).
Since the all the Charlotte metro private schools announced they would be starting in person on a normal schedule, interest has skyrocketed. He was admittedly late to the draw and said that every single private school now has a ridiculous wait list.
They are in the process of forming a pod with 4 other families at $12k a family with a retired teacher.
It’s a mix of grades but how the hell does a family with 3 kids in elementary school and two full time working parents deal with virtual learning?
A freaking 1st grader doing online classes. Lol. A total joke.
