I wonder what Dollar Tree pays its cashiers, and what the work environment is like? Are they expecting all this amazing talent to show up for minimum wage and shitty management (as evidenced by the sign)?

They'd probably rather stand around for free than get paid for minimal work.

Still, when you're forced to recruit teenagers and early twentysomethings for your workforce, as I assume Dollar Tree has to, you've got to anticipate workforce immaturity and stubborness. It's just something you have to manage. You can't get rid of it. You have to build in some flexibility for this into your management system.

....That being said, I would need to actually see how these particular employees were acting at this Dollar Tree. If they were legit holding up the line to chit-chat with their deadbeat boyfriends and had no self-awareness of the trouble they were causing, that would be hard for any manager to put up with, regardless of temperament.

Glad he got what he deserved. This is why young people are having trouble finding jobs and making a living. Have you ever considered letting your employees act differently than you would run your own household? These aren’t little kids they’re adult employees. I’m sorry if they didn’t conform to your exact unnecessary and illogical standards. And I’m sure the boyfriends were buying things making them customers. What moron business owner throws paying customers out with his employees? Seems like a quick way to lose your business.

It’s because they are lazy as frick and think they are entitled to whatever they want without earning a thing.

i think the funniest thing about comments like this are that theyve been voiced by literally every single generation about young generations since like the start of time

But, do we know if the boyfriends were paying customers? If not, that chit-chatting can get out of hand quickly if you have actual paying customers in line.

Who really cares if the boyfriend is present & she is a dependable employee? Half of the young ladies are on their phones anyway.
Sounds like the manager is jealous.

Did he get fired for the sign, or for not being able to properly assess potential hires during the application and interview process?

Seems like he went from hiring whoever walked in, to a still too simplistic "young people bad, old people good" approach.

Typically no but I did have this happen at a gas station I used to go to.

The chick’s loser arse boyfriend was always in there. You could tell she was scared of him too.
Or gas station clerk can be a dangerous job & she feels safer with her boyfriend or someone there with her? Weird what people get upset about.
