Just remember, during the Lehman and AIG crisis, 50 billion to bailout AIG was considered clown money (seriously it was shot down as an idea). And that was a company with skin in the game for America. Now? 100 billion for Ukraine is considered the most important bill the Senate could ever vote on with ZERO actual return for us as a country. Zero accountability. Zero way to see how the money is being spent.
What a country.
What a country.

I know all people do is shite on the government but if it weren’t for all the reports USDA puts out, my job would be ten times harder.
USDA and the Interior are the only ones that would survive my "Afuera!!!" era when becoming dictator. I know they're out there, but i've yet to meet a stupid person from the USDA.

I got a buddy with United Fruit. Get ya started. Start with strawberries, you might work your way up to these goddamn bananas.

What happens if we don’t pay military for a year? Does all the tanks break and planes fall from the sky?
National defense is one of the only things the federal government is actually responsible for. Think before you post.

Social programs that you most likely aren't even eligible for if you actually pay taxes. Sure would be nice if as a taxpayer I could actually get the healthcare and food stamps that my hard earned income contributes to. And social security probably won't be there by the time I'm eligible to get it.
It's theft, and the worst part is the thieves can throw you in jail if you don't let them steal from you. Our founding fathers fought a war over less than what we're taxed now

And a flat tax, or even better a consumption tax.
The most regressive form of taxation. You will punish the working poor and give a huge break to the wealthy with this plan.
How will you adjust your plan for this inequality in treatment between rich and poor?

Get rid of all the bullshite, get rid of all the deductions with exception to retirement savings and medical bills...and pay your small percentage
This is the first step to a new and ever-expanding tax code. lmao. Just this one little exemption or deduction and you are opening Pandora's box.
Are you a libertarian? Let's abolish government! ...and then slowly recreate those same systems and institutions.

automatic deductions from the paycheck was a brilliant way to hide how much one pays in federal taxes

It's absurd that we're the only developed country I'm aware of where the government knows what you owe in taxes, but you have to do the math yourself before they'll tell you if your were right

to keep the IRS running.
$11.9 billion out of $4.1 trillion for FY2021 is hardly most.
quote:
In FY 2021, the IRS collected about $4.1 trillion on a budget of about $11.9 billion (excluding one-time supplemental funding the agency received to administer COVID-19-related stimulus programs).14 That translates to an average ROI of about 345:1. It is economically irrational to underfund the IRS. If a company’s accounts receivable department could generate an ROI of 345:1 and the chief executive officer (CEO) failed to provide enough funding for it to do so, the CEO would be fired. Yet in general, the federal budget rules exclusively take into account outlays and ignore the revenue those outlays generate. The program integrity allocation adjustment mechanism gives Congress the ability to provide some funding above the spending caps, but because it historically has been used solely to fund enforcement initiatives, it can lead to imbalances in the IRS’s operations.

Also, you do realize the IRS is the accounts receivable department for the government.
You are malding about the national debt and want to eliminate the agency responsible for enforcing the tax laws and collecting the legally owed taxes.
Galaxy brained policy wonk level stuff here, Mr. Loup.

What are they doing with all that money

In 2019, we spent $4.6T, the same as our current revenue.
Sadly, if we could just ONLY increase spending by 1% a year instead of the automatic GAO built in 8% and freeze government non military hiring for a few years, we could grow or wsy out of this mess.

Fareplay, don’t be naive. Your and my taxes go toward nothing but servicing the interest on the debt. Borrowing money is what pays for schools, roads and bridges. It’s unsustainable and a day of reckoning is coming. Don’t be caught flat-footed when someone shows up at your door armed demanding food.

What are they doing with all that money they took from me?
It does make me wonder why I'm giving away all of this money to the government, when I don't even make that much myself. Working my butt off to make a living and I'm still fearing my meeting with the tax person later this week because I might have to give even more to the government for no good reason.

Hiring more IRS agents so they can take even more next year

You don’t. That’s the beauty of it. Everybody treated the same. Isn’t that the goal?

I really enjoy paying cash for a new car for the government each year.

A lot of it is wasted on military spending
Posted on 2/13/24 at 6:47 pm to fareplay
Most of goes to the military and they don’t have to account for it. We either have a secret space fleet like in Star Trek or something or it’s been stolen or wasted
