Sounds like owner didn’t want to give her up.

PETA is more likely to euthanize the dog than help it get better. Bunch of frickwads.

Do you chain your dogs to a tree and not give them heartworm preventative? If so, you should have your animals confiscated.

but that doesn't mean the animal was abused. Might make the owner irresponsible, but not abusive.

Neglecting to spend $7/month to prevent a ball of worms from forming in your dog's heart and eventually leading to suffering and death is abuse.

and yeah, they can get heartworms regardless of what they're on. At 12YO, the dog had "advanced" everything.
You know the dog's owner didn't take care of this dog. It spent it's life on a chain. The owner is obviously a heartless POS. Well obvious to anyone with any human decency.

Feel free to be that guy. Plenty of douche bags in the world. Always room for one more.

Because that would have to assume PETA actually gave a shite about the welfare of animals.

In 2018, no dog should be suffering from heart worms.

We should tie the owners to the tree, and beat them within an inch of their lives, take a drink of beer, shoot some tequila, then beat them another time or 2.

So how much of the actual story is bull shite...?

They probably left out the part where they killed the dog.

I never understood why people think it’s so bad to leave a dog outside. Animals are supposed to live outside. I can’t stand a house that reeks of dog, it’s disgusting.

I’ll let mine inside during extreme weather and keep them in one room but that’s it.

That's not the problem, a dog dying because of heart worms is.

This doesn't seem like a good bucket list for a dog, they could have done better.

No kidding like just give it a frickload of steak and let it lay there.

It was 12 years old. Having lived outside it’s whole life. Something is going to get it. I’m a tad bit skeptical about PETA’s intentions here as the dog made it to 12 living outside. That’s a pretty solid run. Maybe the owners were old as hell or grew up in the country. Maybe they for whatever reason didn’t realize the old girl was sick. Or maybe they just thought of her as a dog unlike many people who spend small fortunes on their pets these days. Who knows

quote:

Miss Willie was treated to “a blowout birthday bash, a pizza night, a canoe ride, a massage, a trip to a fire station and a day at the beach,” PETA said.

Seems like it was for PETA attention more than the poor dog. The dog probably wondered where her tree was if we’re being honest.

It was 12 years old. At that age or older something will eventually kill it
