I wish I'd heard of those before my mom died. It'd be nice if she were still around.
I do think blue HEELERS are a good breed.
Usually mutts have been the best in my family. But my favorite dog has been my current American Staffordshire Terrier. Without a doubt the friendliest, most affectionate, most social dog I've ever had. I trained her hard as a pup to make sure she was a beta personality, but it paid off. My only problem is she has some separation anxiety. But she's still a pup at 2.

If you aren't stupid, get a pit mix. The problem w these dogs is that many of them are smarter than their owners. Once they realize they are the smartest variable in the equation, they will cause problems
You have to be a very strong, dominant owner. They are hard headed, like most bulldogs. But if you want a larger, athletic couch potato; they are great dogs.
Pure breeds of any kind worry me, due to puppy mills and inbreeding.

The Updog is my favorite...

Honestly I've only owned hounds and labs. Maybe a German or Australian shepherd and husky in the future

I love herding breeds. But I wouldn't get one unless I owned a lot of land. They need a ton of exercise.

This. I've owned pure breeds and mutts. The mutts were always the better dogs.

I've had good luck with my puggle (beagle/pug).

Labs!
And Boxers are the best breeds for families. It isn't rocket science to know why. Both breeds suffer from health issues, but it is worth it to own either one.

French Bulldog and not even close!! Did enjoy my mini daschund as well. Both very smart breeds but the Frenchie is such a loving dog.

I have one and he is a great dog, but nothing tops our border collies.

My old border collie mix growing up could probably beat most of the SEC rant posters in chess. Great dog.

Big male chocolate lab.
Got one of those laying at my feet right now. 4years old and is the sweetest dog ever. Literally does think he's human. Great watchdog, too. Not mean - just loud when someone comes over, but once I give him the OK, he settles down.

Golden Retriever FTW.
Unless I was damn lucky with the one I had, these are the best dogs ever.. And I foster a fair amount of dogs.
