Here in New Orleans we have lots of guys who just hang out all day, not just in the morning. They don’t seem that old either.

When I used to do early morning workouts at my local YMCA, there was a group of regulars that sat around and drank coffee after water aerobics.

James Grill in Denham Springs absolutely qualifies

My wife’s old boss, James Crowell who owned James Drug Store would eat there every day. He is dead now.
Don’t think they are related!

Here in Prairieville a group met every morning at the local hardware. I used to see them on my way to work. The hardware set up a small restaurant style area with tables and red and white tablecloths. One of the ladies that worked there would cook breakfast for them. Really nice.

used to be one group at the DQ, one at McDonald's and one at one of the diners.

The nickname for the groups were the "Limp Pecker Club"

Yep, we had four groups, one at the local drug store, two at different gas stations and one was at McDonalds before covid.

You joke about this, but I guarantee their generation had way more testosterone than this one. And that was pre viagra!

I've been in McDonald's early in the morning and have experienced Aqua Velva, Brut, and British Sterling battling it out for air superiority in there.

In my hometown (way out in BFE from Shreveport) they first hung out at the police (gotta pronounce it PO-lice) station and then when the old police guys retired, they moved to the shoe store and then the hardware store, where my dad sold insurance. Yes, his office was inside the hardware store.

They were all 60+ and aging. My dad can't drive to go anymore. They called themselves "The Wise Men." Said they solved all the worlds problems every day. I miss them all!

I sat a table near them once in college, and they didn't seem very knowledgeable. Ignorant, sexist, racist, and angry fit them much better. Perhaps it was just this particular group though.

Local gas station here.

A favorite setting for these groups. It’s amazing what they’ll convert to outdoor seating— old computer chairs without backs, discarded recliners, etc.

Here in Oxford, there is a group of about 8-10 fellows who meet around 6:30-8:30 a.m. at Lindsey's Chevron every single day.
