I’m sure a lot of you have heard the old proverbs “Money can’t buy happiness” and “Mo Money Mo Problems”. But for those of you who are at least comfortable financially, how much happiness has your money brought you? Do you focus more on material things (cars, boats, big houses, etc.) or the experiences money can buy (for example a trip to anywhere in the world)?

I do believe money can’t buy love, and I’ve heard of rich people who were alone and depressed. I just feel like having money can put you in a position where you don’t have to struggle and stress about paying the bills, where the next meal is coming from, healthcare costs, etc. Still, I know with everything in life, there are pros and cons.

No.

Money does give people the means to pursue it.

You alluded to this already, but it's not what money gets you, it's what it takes away - stress.

It might not, but I'm sure it will put a nice down payment on it.

No

It buys temporary joy, relief, etc. But not happiness.

If you control spending, yes.

If you do not, no. It adds to your stress and traps you.

Not really, but it makes the pursuit of happiness a hell of a lot easier.

The answer is obviously no, but not having money can definitely bring unhappiness

Money helps but you are in control of your own happiness, which is unfortunately more evasive than most people would like

Not at all. Some of the most miserable people I've ever known have been well off. Some of the happiest have been just barely getting by.

Money is only a piece of the puzzle. Have you ever put together a puzzle that is missing a couple pieces?

Having money would be cool but it wouldn't make a dent in any of the problems I have.

Your happiness in life is directly proportional to what you expect or *think* you deserve. You ever notice how pretty much every advertisement tells us how much we "deserve" that particular product or service? They are trying to manipulate your expectations.

Money will only provide happiness insomuch as your expectations don't outstrip your financial means. Many people are incapable of managing their expectations, which is why so many people - even people who make lots of money - go into debt.
