No, but I understand why some people might feel different.

Boy is a white racist word.

True story: When I was growing up I knew a guy whose nickname was Boy. He was from a black family that had 4 girls and him. They called him Boy from the day he was born.

It was the source of a few conflicts over the years, particularly when a customer where he worked heard his old, white boss say, "Boy, go do this..." The customer was a black lady who was having none of it. She lit into the bossman and was giving him hell. Boy came running back out from the back and had to just about pull the woman off him.

That wasn't the only time something like that happened. At least 30 years later and folks still call him Boy. I'm sure some dumbasses still get bent out of shape over it, probably even more so in 2020.

I'm assuming he's talking about black people. You think black people (as a group, I'm well aware there are images of black folks with the battle flag on the internet) had to be told to dislike that flag? I support anyone's right to display any flag that they choose but that's ignorant.

Yeah, I do. The outrage over that flag is pretty recent over it’s long history of being displayed. The outrage stems from people who’ve created it over the flag because of an infinitesimal number of people from hate groups who aren’t even a blip on the radar in representation of people in the south who misused it for their own purposes. The overwhelming vast majority of black people living today have absolutely ZERO personal experiences coming from a hate group waving that flag and doing harm to them.

However, if that’s what we are going with now to indicate vile representations of hate, then you better be careful because the US Flag was also flown by Klansmen in their marches and demonstrations.

Are we ready to cast that one into the fire as well?

Reading through this thread, it’s quite funny how people never seem to thoroughly account for history. There was a long period of time in this country where the Confederate flag was not entirely a part of American culture. It wasn’t until 1948 when the Dixiecrat movement began and the Confederate flag at that point became part of its symbol of preserving white supremacy

It doesn’t offend me, but if you fly it there is a 100% chance you are trashy

I’m apathetic to it. I won’t fly one. To be honest, I think most of the people in my area who do are doing it for racist reasons. I don’t believe that was necessarily true before 2020.

I think this is the crux of it and with a lot of identity politics in general of today

Whatever upsets the other side is what they love, no matter how it makes them look personally

The confederate flag doesn’t “offend” me, I just think it’s stupid and the telltale sign of someone just trying to instigate

Not me. But I do not like how it was twisted to be used as a hate symbol. It should just be a flag to represent the south as a region and culture just like the lone star flag represents Texas.

I’m the one that thinks Americans are by and large puppets, and are told to be outraged, and so they get outraged, but only when they are told to get outraged. Sheep don’t think like individuals. They think like sheep.

I don't really care. It's helpful to identify trashy people.

Although trashy people can make something of themselves. It's called "garbage can". Not "garbage cannot".
