Some of the funniest / saddest people you will ever meet are in sales.
I'd love to hear some funny stories from people who do cold calls.

My phone says "Spam Risk" so I don't answer.

IMO either you have it in you to do that or you don’t. I didn’t for sure and sucked at it.
People that are good at sales and work in good industries can make a lot of money though.

I'm nice to the hot calls I receive.

I’m approving year end bonuses for my sales team as we speak. My lowest income earner was around 125k and my highest was north of 300k before year end bonus. Cold calling is worth it….if you’re any good at it.

considering the whole contemporary trope of not answering the phone or door EVER yikes if you do

My buddy is a Sales Manager. He hires his guys based off how hot their wives are. Not because he wants to bang the women but because he says "getting a woman ten times hotter than you tells me you can sell yourself and if you can do that then you can sell anything." I laughed at first and then thought about it. I know some really good sales guys that are trolls and have hot women.

Put that coffee down. Coffee is for closers.

Exactly. If you have to resort to cold calling for a living because your product doesn't sell itself, you need to reconsider your lot in the game of life.

My first sales manager told me this exact same thing:
He added. “ even if they got them because they’re crazy it shows they can put with some crazy shite and keep going.”

I’m in sales. Made just short of $300k last year and I don’t cold call. Not really sad but I try to be funny

I had to do it at the shitty finance company I worked at.
We dealt with all kinds of deadbeats and lunatics as it was, so cold calling was usually the easiest part of my day.
One time I called up a sweet old black lady.
She was interested in applying for a loan, so I started taking her information. Typical application stuff: name, date of birth, SSN, address.
We would ask about children. When I asked she said "Oh baby, I don't have any children."
In the background, some guys says "bitch, you lyin'. You know you got 5 kids."
And like turning on a switch, the sweet old lady snapped "Shut the frick up, motherfricker!... and get your motherfricking hands off my motherfricking cigarettes!"
Slight pause..
"Oh baby, I'm sorry. What was you asking me?"

I'm friends with some guys who make alot of money cold calling. One thing I've learned from them: never underestimate a guy who cold calls for a living. Behind all the "sales" bullshite those guys are ruthless.
