I’ve cold called to ask people to do a survey and almost died of embarrassment. Can’t imagine actually trying to sell stuff.

it's not for everyone. if you can't handle being cussed/screamed at, and you take no for answer, you'll probably want to find another profession.

the thing is, sales people love being sold to. just treat it like a convo.

SWSWSW: some will, some wont, so what?

Some of the funniest / saddest people you will ever meet are in sales. I'd love to hear some funny stories from people who do cold calls.

I do but it’s no big deal. Every once in a while you get a jackass but I’m just a dick back.

My buddy is a Sales Manager. He hires his guys based off how hot their wives are. Not because he wants to bang the women but because he says "getting a woman ten times hotter than you tells me you can sell yourself and if you can do that then you can sell anything." I laughed at first and then thought about it. I know some really good sales guys that are trolls and have hot women.

Your buddy is James Franklin? I think that his criteria for hiring assistant coaches.

I call on a specific industry and will do cold calls. Some have turned out to be some nice deals. The worst though is when they make you wait because they want to take time to talk to you and then they tell you they need some $5 part.

I do

It really isn’t that hard…I know prospects I call need my product, and I ask for a meeting, if they say no, get their email or phone number. Let them know I’ll be in touch when they need something.

Sales is about being around when they need you, and they need to know how to contact you. You can call them 364 days in a row, but it all counts when they call you on the 365…

Eta I’ve had customers ask me to take them off the call/email list, and I will do that upon request. Never been cussed at, being polite goes a long way, in person and over the phone.

Not sure if it is "cold calling" but I am crushing it calling customers that I know who are using our competitors and they dont have inventory because of supply and inventory issues with them

It’s simply a numbers game. Cold callers 100% expect to be cursed at, hung up on, ridiculed, and trashed 99.999% of the time. They make money off the rest of the calls, though, and put food on their table for their family doing it. You can’t wear yourself out over the normal, expected cold call results. You gotta be motivated by the sales you do get and that’s how you make it.

For the record, people who actually do request a call from a salesperson can still be dicks and claim they never requested the info . NEXT!!

That said, I suck at cold calls. So fricking happy I don’t do that anymore.

My first few years in sales included plenty of cold calls. Main thing I got from that is THICK SKIN, no matter what happens today it's easier than those years. Probably made $18K per year those first two years.

I was kicked out of at least 5 Baton Rouge businesses, I was an arrogant little shite.

But hey, it's paid off!

I couldn't do it. I can bullshite with the best of them, but but I don't have a sellers mentality when it comes to having to use tactics to get people to buy something.

In my mind its "This is the product. Do you need or want it? No? Okay"

But I am sure the people who do have heard some funny shite.

I called a business owner a few times and he kept brushing me off so I found someone we both knew to give me a referral and he finally agreed to meet with me. This crusty old dude met with me about 3-4 times per year for 8 years before he ever bought anything from me. Once we built up a relationship and he trusted me the flood gates opened. He was the owner but placed all of his own raw material orders which is just unheard of these days. He orders for 5 plants and one order was for over 40 truckloads of raw materials spread over 5 months. Persistence pays off.

Hello, can I speak to the lady of the house? Ma’am, I don’t know if you have kept up to date on vacuum technology, but I have a vacuum with such incredible suction power that you need a license to operate it in no less than five countries. I just sold one to your neighbor, but she opted for the pro model.....

Was a mil recruiter. I didn’t like it but I had fun. It was always funny calling back after getting hung up on and telling them they must have lost service. Lmao.

Steve Austin and Ice T have done well in this field, from what I gather.
