I lived in Baton Rouge for 14 years. Moved to Houston 4 years ago. Stark difference in many areas.

God not this shite again. What are some people’s fascination with trashing BR? If you don’t like it, fine, but what is the point of continually bringing this topic up? My family and I really enjoy it here. I’ve spent most of my adult life here (outside of 10 unmemorable year’s in texas), am raising my kids here, and don’t plan on leaving.

I'm with this guy. I like it here. It has its challenges no doubt but I've lived in much worse places. Trashing BR on this board is a meme that's just gotten played out.

Can't read this page
It was written on long before you had eyes to see
Can't find my way
I'm somewhere between Baton Rouge and New Orleans
This is our life, this is our time
You be yours and I'll be mine
This is our world, this is our time
And I'll see you...

I don't dislike it near as much as many on here do.

I think for some reason certain people grow to dislike the area they grew up in. My wife is from Birmingham and would much rather live in BR.

I do but then again I'm only there several times a year. I find the people nice, the food great and great views of the river, LSU, lakes, etc. Downtown is up and coming with food and bars.
The funny thing is, the people who say they dislike it list off a bunch of reasons such as litter, crime, etc like those things don't exist in other cities. I find very little litter compared to most other places and just like anywhere else, if you stay out of the wrong areas, you don't have to worry about crime so much.

This place is miserable sometimes. I never knew how bad my life supposedly sucks here until I discovered the OT

have you ever been shopping in New Orleans? Beats BR any day. Just off the top of my head: Lakeview Shopping Center; Saks (One Canal Place); Magazine Street. Heck, even Town Center has better shopping in BR than the Mall of Louisiana.
