I like to think we arrived at a mutually satisfactory price, my friend.

Probably because he was confused as frick. He thought you wanted to buy the space. Silly him.

He has parking spaces that aren't used. They generate 0 dollars for him for over 2 years. We've also had a bunch of vacancies recently with the whole COVID BS, So I can't imagine he'll be renting to into anybody in the near future.

He lost his opportunity to generate income from a non-generating asset.

We negotiated and arrived at a point where we were comfortable. We did honest business...but I should have gotten you to throw in some fuzzy dice

Then go talk to the other parking space magnates. I hope you report back if they want $1k.

What an idiot, right? Trying to make a deal in literally the only possible way. The nerve.

Haggling, for those of us who are successful with it, is fun. I don’t fault you if it’s a weakness of yours though.

I don’t mind paying retail, but if I can talk someone down, then I win.

" Let me go try to get my sales manager approve this $500 price discount on this $40k vehicle "
The process is demeaning for both buyer and salesperson.

I have been a salesman for new luxury German and midrange domestic automobiles.

The business sales model is antiquated and insulting.

BTW sales profits are a miniscule portion of new car dealers income.

The big money comes from the $800 oil change .

Where does haggling happen? If you had a fruit stand or a clothing store or an electronics store.... You would just have "negotiate with me" as the price?

Get on craigslist and you want to sell your your 10-year-old couch that you paid $1,000 for $900 (because it's "like new") That's fine.... But then don't drop it and say how about 800, okay I'll do 650...$500 final.

A 10-year-old couch is worth zero to pretty much everybody else, give or throw that s*** the f*** away.

My anger comes from a parking space that a guy hasn't been using in 2 years. I asked him what he wanted for it He said $800 a month. I said no. Then he says $400, I say no, 300, no thank you, $200.

Screw you, I would have paid $300 but I don't want to deal with the scumbag, and he's now upset that I won't take it for $200, saying that I want it for free.

I find haggling distasteful and don't ever want to do business with a piece of f****** s*** who would haggle.

Who the frick made you the arbiter of what's trashy?

You’re only against haggling if you’re against fun. Haggling is so much fun if you’re good at it, even if you lose on some deals. Fly to Beijing and go to Pearl or Silk Markets. World class fun for rip off products and prices. Personally it’s like Disney World for a bullshitter. Here’s the thing: it’s fricking hilarious watching Westerners getting fricked over on products they pay 15 times the production costs for and knowing it won’t last a year. Meanwhile I frick around and get a year’s wardrobe of nice looking clothes for a year that will dissolve by the end of it for like a hundred bucks. So the sellers have the satisfaction of knowing they sold you a terrible but temporarily good looking product, while you laugh your arse off knowing you’ll buy your next year’s wardrobe in a year from them again for a fraction of the cost you would in the States. It’s a complete win-win as far as I’m concerned.

If you’re not a fricking retard and know what you’re up against, you both know you’re each trying to frick each other over, but the game is buttering each other up knowing what each of you want. Granted almost none of you could do as well as I could since I was speaking in their literal language, but a great American bullshitter can do a great job of it. This isn’t an insult, since as soon as a Westerner speaks Mandarin to them they cut the price by 2/3rds, and they know a Westerner that knows Mandarin is wanting to cut the cost by 7/8ths or 9/10ths. World class fun visiting the Silk and Pearl Markets and I highly recommend it simply for entertainment value for world class bullshitters.

I don't like it, generally don't do it and will even pay more to avoid it (like a service charge to avoid the hassle) but that quote above it incorrect.

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I learned that when I was 12 collecting baseball cards.

Amigo I’m not a doctor, but what you did right there is called haggling. You wanted an unlisted item and had a price point in mind. You asked the potential seller his price point hoping it would be lower. It was not and you got all pissy.

Occasionally I fail to correctly read my wife’s mind and she gets all pissy too. Women, am I right?!
