3700 people die driving every single day.

We know. If you could prevent half of those why wouldn't you?
you can..... take away licences from people...is that being done?

set up driving times for specific people.... is that being done?

Truly believe some people never want a return to normal. They want their government checks to keep coming and protection from paying their bills.

We are looking to hire someone right now, and granted the job isn't the most glamorous in the world, but people that likely would have jumped on the opportunity before are not at all interested now.

Why wake up early and work all day when you still get paid not to? I can't say I blame them. My friends that worked in bars/restaurants are waking up early for the first time in years, going on long leisurely bike rides and picnics all day, day drinking, etc. Nobody is going to give that up to make slightly more money and have to put in a full day of work every day.

I know the $600 unemployment thing hasn't started yet, but I believe it is supposed to last 4 months (?). I wonder if bars/restaurants are going to have a hard time getting staff back until that's finished paying out.

EDIT - In hindsight, they'll probably keep bars and restaurants closed/takeout only until that is over anyway.

the driving deaths comparison is a terrible comparison considering we have all kinds of regulations/restrictions already put on us for driving that are there to lower driving accidents/deaths

It's def. going to be interesting. No matter what opens and when, I seem to think it's going to be a very slow climb back to normal business. Hopefully there will be enough people willing to work to fill the jobs.

Why does following Trump's recommendation make JBE a pussy? You calling Trump a pussy?

The week of 4/27, if our case numbers continue the downturn I am seeing, we need to start gradually opening certain segments of our economy. Basic retail commerce should resume. A couple weeks later restaurants... Health clubs, and so on.

He's like the guy who refused to implicate Trump because Trump only issue recommendations while it was the governors who implemented the restrictions.

Whatever 'ism you subscribe to is a mental disease. Your post is objective proof of that. Let me guess, JBE wants to crown himself Emperor of Louisiana?

BTW, what do you think about the feds using cell phone data to track people who have the virus? Or is that JBE, too?

And yet tens of thousands of people still die every year, and many more seriously injured, due to driving related accidents.

Those can easily be prevented by applying the same measures currently being implemented for a bad version of the flu to people’s ability to drive.

they could

and the government could easily go full China and lock people in their homes to prevent even more deaths

the point is that using driving as a comparison is a bad example in this case because we do have restrictions/regulations in place to lower driving deaths

you are basically arguing for restrictions with making the driving deaths comparison
