there should be a permanent ban on travel from china, this should be a permanent thing forever since every year they spread diseases including a new flu and only after a 2 week quarantine can you be allowed to continue

People were melting when things started to slow down here in March. If they would have put strict bans on travel nationally and internationally we would might be towards the end of this instead of being in unknown territory, but if they would have put everything on hold without having official numbers to justify it people would flip out..
Its the reason why government never does anything to prevent problems and only reacts when problems happen. Their responses are based on the reactions of the general public.

Agree with people saying that just banning travel from China wouldn't have much effect since it seems to have already been in Europe. The number of early cases "discovered" and traced here skewed pretty heavily to Europe: France, Italy, Germany etc.
Big difference could have been made actually admitting it was potential catastrophe and being more prepared in terms of massive, organized free early testing to keep it from spreading so rapidly.
Also, negotiating/planning with GM etc etc to produce medical necessities even when we were already seeing what was happening in Italy could have been massive in getting back up and running sooner.
MUCH easier to convince enough people to re-open stuff if it seems we are overstocked in medical necessities to deal with bad cases instead of in a desperate shortage.
Big difference could have been made actually admitting it was potential catastrophe and being more prepared in terms of massive, organized free early testing to keep it from spreading so rapidly.

Travel ban, even if you stopped every last airplane, you still have t contained any of the cargo,,,,which has foreign workers on it, plus you still have the military coming and going

Eventually it would have found it's way here. Damhn near every country in the world save for a few small 3rd world countries has at least 1 infected person
But at the same time it could have potentially at least bought us some more time before shite eventually hit the fan. Maybe we could have developed a plan with that extra time.
