Got rid of it when i cut the cord. House alarm is run through cell signal.

Yes but only because internet and cable was cheaper with the bundle.
I had one through a bundle a few years ago (not sure if it's technically considered a landline) but Comcast sold my number to so many telemarketers that I had to leave the phone permanently unplugged.

I did until a couple of years ago. No one ever called us on it except telemarketers. I can't think of any family off hand that has one. If they do, I don't know about it or have that number.

I don’t blame you there. I hate telemarketers with a passion.
But I don’t have a house phone hooked up and nobody knows my number so the 3-4 times I get a call on the landline during the week are most likely telemarketers and it just goes straight to the TV and I hit decline.
No clue how or why it’s cheaper than if I didn’t have the landline, but it is so I got it.

I think you can fax over the internet. You just need the software.

Yes. I never answer it. But every so often I use it instead of my cell because I’m in a bad spot.
Also, I’d have to start giving out my cell phone to everyone. At that means more people would call my cell phone.

We live in a house that was built in '75. It's funny because we have landline phone jacks in every room (except the bathrooms), the garage and even on our back patio.

Little secret. If you keep your landline / voip service you have e911. If your service goes out, you get pushed to the front of the line because it’s still mandated by law that the isp/cable company provide working emergency services.

Same reason I had mine. I figure it's cheaper because they usually lock you into a contract when you bundle.

Yep but only because it is the only number of mine my 93 year old grandfather can remember. He calls me almost every night around 6pm
This is pretty much the only reason I have mine.. Two older relatives only calls my landline, but they rarely call. If someone can't get me on my cell, they will call the landline to see if I am home, but I really don't need it.

Yes, primary reason is my wife has a health issue, landlines have better 911 location finding capability if all you can manage to do is dial the number.During one of the hurricanes we had no cell service in this area for over a week, had a constant stream of neighbors who didn't have landlines wanting to use the phone, and since I have it for other reasons the alarm system also uses it.

I do. Need it for my home alarm system
I did too for a while, but my monitoring company was able to install a cellular modem for about the same monthly cost.

Yes for health reasons.
