I got a landline as part of a bundle that lowered my cable/internet bill. I don't have an actual phone though, I can just see on the tv when someone tries to call. I do think it's a good idea to have a landline in a fixed location for emergencies though. I had a vanity mirror in my bathroom fall off the wall and land on me; my cell phone was somewhere under all of the broken glass and blood. If my roommate had not been there, I wouldn't have been able to locate my cell to call 911 and might have bled out

Yes but only because internet and cable was cheaper if I had a landline. The bundle is odd.

Same.

I do. My cell is kept private. All telemarketers/scammers/PITAs get to talk to the answering machine and never get a live person. I return calls only to the people I want to talk to.

Nope, got rid of it a couple of years ago. Had to work with the alarm company to switch the monitoring from a POTS line to cell phone service. Don't miss it at all.

Yep and I always will. I hate talking on cell phones, honestly. I also don't have good service inside my house. Most people call my home phone first anyway. I don't answer the cell except for texts when I'm at home. I'll call back if I want to from the landline.

Yep, came with my internet/cable bundle. Anytime a business needs my number they get my house number so my cell phone isnt ringing constantly with people I dont want to talk to.

My parents still do. When I move into a house I'll get one then, no need in an apartment/condo when the phone is always only a room away.

Got rid of the one I had for almost thirst years, a couple months ago. No matter what I did, AT&T could not get their shite straight. Dropped service, problem making long distance calls, lines so old they could support DSL, and a singular ability to not fix problems after multiple service calls.

Can't say I've ever been more exasperated with a company.

I moved to my present house 5 years ago.

We have a landline as Mrs Füt (no pics) works from home one to two days per week and it works better for her conference calls.

She plugs in a phone right before her conference call(s) and then unplugs immediately following the call’s conclusion.

Zero chance of telemarketers, no one has the phone number that we know.

I do not know the phone number to give it out.

Yep. My cell phone is company issued and I don’t think it is a good idea to rely solely on that. Landline is still the most inexpensive way to access telephone capabilities
