If you have to punch a woman who is trying to punch you as the only way for you to prevent yourself from true injury, you either just have really bad luck to be in the middle of an altercation with some badass chick, or you're pretty weak that you can't stop a woman from injuring you without having to punch her unnecessarily.
The only exception I can think off of the top of my head is if some not very physically scary woman attacks your kids or something wild like that. If she's doing some shite to your kids, all bets are off, and it should be allowable to do whatever you feel is necessary to her to get what she has coming.

Yes. as a general rule guys should not hit girls.
Of course there are situations where it might be necessary.. Self defense.
