It's been bad since they went to mostly self checkout
I rarely set foot in a Wal-Mart but if I do and have to check myself out they are not going to check a damn thing in my buggy, they abdicated that right.
I walk right past them ignoring them and everyone else should do the same.

It’s actually corporate policy to receipt check anything not in a bag. Just like now Walmart can’t sell tobacco to anyone under 21. Doesn’t matter if your 18-20 you can’t buy tobacco from Walmart.

You saw Frogmore burned down?
Tragic.
And your fancy arse should not be at Walmart.

I have never once been asked to show my receipt at Walmart. I dont go there often, but it still makes me feel a bit bad when they ask for others receipts.

It’s just a deference. Thieves will be less likely if they’re checking random people. They can’t stop it completely, but doing this helps. And of course thieves can still be crafty and do it anyway.
Just how I’ve thought about it. I wouldn’t be upset with a random check if I didn’t steal anything, so I don’t care.

The issue is, I live in a small city with a very heavy handed police force. With an officer or two ALWAYS at Walmart.
I try to avoid police when I can. So if doing that means showing a receipt, I will.

To hell with that. I have already paid for the products and they are bagged up. No reason for some to slow me down to inspect my purchases.

I got stopped the other day and the woman whispered to me "I don't even know what I'm looking at, I only stopped you because my manager is right there".

I would absolutely love for a policeman to force me to have my buggy checked, they would be unemployed by the next day and I would have a fatter wallet from both the vendor as well as the local gov.
Why are you under the impression this is a police matter?
Wal-Mart is asking you to do this, they have no legal standing to force you to comply or request police intervention, these items are now YOUR PROPERTY and no corporation has a legal right to inspect them.
Sams or Costco etc. may cancel your membership if they wish but that is all they can do if you refuse to be searched.

I really hate it. Usually things don’t bother me, but with the Walmart pay it doesn’t give me a physical receipt and they want to see the electronic one. So I have to stop, pull up the right app, make sure it’s loaded and show it to the checker. All with the “guilty until proven innocent” premonition. No it’s not a huge deal, but I now own these goods and you have made it more difficult to prove I own them (no paper receipt to save money and self check out to save money). Next time I’m just going past them.
I understand at sams or costco, I agreed to the terms of the club. But Walmarts can SAD.

detained by police for not showing receipt
Too late to find the one I really wanted. A goggle search shows dozens of videos though.
I doubt an officer would get fired over it.

That all depends on your reaction and how far you are willing to take it.
