People call a noon meal “dinner”? That’s dumb.

It is an old country southern thing.

My grandparents would ask if we were coming over to eat at 1:00 pm after church on Sunday and call it “dinner”.

So I got to calling evening meals “supper” to be specific. My friends in college didn’t understand why I said “supper”.

But I don’t know anyone still alive that does this.

I grew up in the country and we said “breakfast, dinner, supper.” Now I say “breakfast, lunch and dinner.”

Restaurants have “lunch” menus and “dinner” menus, why is this even a question?

Have you ever been to a restaurant that has different menus for lunch and dinner? Which one do they give you at noon?

She still says breakfast/dinner/supper and now my sister says supper and she is younger than me.

Dinner is an event. Lunch is just eating around noon.

The US Government issued K-Rations during WW2 and the nomenclature used for the three daily meals was as follows:

Breakfast

Dinner

Supper.

So, if any of you **** commie nazi-types want to say that Old Uncle Sam is WRONG about that, you know what you can do with your "Lunch".

Well, if you eat your Thanksgiving meal at noon, it is still called Thanksgiving dinner. No one has ever called it Thanksgiving lunch.

Rural folks and farmers have 4 meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Supper. Lunch is usually mid-morning and dinner is early afternoon.

My grandparents were farmers. It went like this:
6:00 breakfast
9:00 lunch
12:00 dinner
3:00 lunch
6:00 supper
9:00 night lunch

Families that force you to eat the thanksgiving meal at noon, thanksgiving lunch, are the worst. Because it’s LUNCH
