You have it completely wrong in order of importance. Reduce is the most important, re-use second, recycle third.

But nobody makes money off of reduce and re-use so recycle has been pushed exceptionally hard.

I usually just burn all my garbage. So is that reducing it?

I know it doesn’t fit with my prescribed political beliefs but single-use plastics are a scourge on the planet

Not really. I put Amazon boxes in the recycling bin but not really anything else. It all goes to the same landfill here.

Re-use paper plates and aluminum foil if pretty clean. Wipe em down. Recycle? No

I do cardboard only as we are always dealing with packages delivered to the house, and the garbage men won't pick all of it up on trash days. The recycling guy does.

I have serious doubts that the stuff we send to recycling actually gets recycled.

So do I

You don’t need to go around bragging about doing good things. Just do it

I throw bottles and cans in the smaller "other" trash can. I guess I actively recycle

I honestly forgot "reduce" and "reuse" were a thing. We make a lot of cans and bottles. Sorry

It has me wondering does all the shite we throw out just get piled up at the dump or are people (employees) going through all of it? I've thrown away clothes hangers, tools, hardware all kinds of things that are trash to me but someone else could in theory use it.

Not at all. I fact when I'm in public and they have trash containers and containers for plastic, I throw my plastic bottles in the trash.

I recycle. Family of three and one of the only ones in the neighborhood that get by only putting one trash can out

I absolutely recycle as much as possible. Why throw plastic and metal into the trash when it can be reused. I’ll reuse or fix anything for use as long as possible. I reduce by not using something if I don’t need it. Just common sense really.

I recycle aluminum. I take it to our local place that buys aluminum, copper and iron.

This
I recycle a good bit, water bottles, shampoo bottles, & boxes but I don’t rinse & recycle cans from vegetables
We reuse plastic shopping bags

If reducing waste & trees were all that important I figure someone would have put a stop to junk mail by now
