There is minimal amount of water from the washer reservoir to the washer motor. Freezing there isn’t really a big deal.
I have personally had a washer reservoir (filled with regular water) crack in Louisiana during a freeze. I assumed it froze in the neck of the reservoir.
Ever since then I’ve refrained from putting regular water in the reservoir. The orange Rain-X fluid is rated for 0 degrees. I just use that.

Typical 'Blue' washer fluid is good to a '0 degrees' air temp before freezing.
That’s not necessarily true. There are a ton of blue washer fluids out there that are only rated for 32+ degrees. You have to check the label.

I make my own with alcohol, Dawn, and water. It should be fine unless we get to single digit.

Pulled over at the pilot at the bucees exit and bought some 0 degree fluid.
Wait. You took an exit that had a Bucees and a Pilot. You chose the Pilot?

winter wash helps your ww from freezing. My truck still has summer blend and my washer was froze up today. Its 7 degrees here I need to start just using the winter kind year around.

Never did that. But I do mix in some anti-freeze in my dogs water so he can stay outside overnight.

Usually around mid October I switch from the green rainx fluid to the purple rainx fluid

Pour a bottle of rubbing alcohol on it.

Blinker fluid freezes at minus 40. Centigrade or Fahrenheit.

You southern folks are funny.

Add bottle of rubbing alcohol to it. Spray until you smell it, you’ll be good.

Interesting!
I will begin recommending the same to dog-owners who I don't believe should be dog owners!

Pilot’s gas is usually cheaper than Bucees…

No. I put it in all year.

If temps are freezing, why do you need washer fluid?

Mine is Prestone with bug wash, 32F protection. It is supposed to get to single digits here in Huntsville tonight. I may need a new reservoir after this snap.
Get the orange washer fluid. It is about 6.50 a bottle at AutoZone and has protection to 0 degrees F.

Why to the bucees first but they were sold out of 0 degree fluid
