my high school yearbook from 1982 has a pic of several of my classmates at a paintball event.

You know, that's really interesting considering paintball as a game wasn't even invented until mid1981 and the first ever commercial paintball field in the world opened in March of 1982.

I’ve had nerf gun battles with my grandkids. I got pretty deadly with my 6 shooter pistol…it was a pain in the arse picking up all the bullets though.

that’s a old wives tale. The shell gets more brittle if you freeze it. The small amount of paint in each ball doesn’t actually freeze

Played alot as a teen from about 02-05. Actually still have my gun (Spyder Flash LCD). We lit up brec parks mostly because the actual courses were expensive, but they had a short lived one out in Holden called Paintball Ponderosa that was fricking awesome. Had a woods arena, speed ball, and castle arena with a moat. Probably the best bday i ever had

Funny this thread popped up, actually having my bachelor party in Phoenix in january and paintball was brought up one day as an option. Cant wait to see how many mid 30s hammys are blown

Ouachita Parish High School yearbook.

Bunch of baws playing in the woods in Monroe. I guess we were a trendsetter.

If it bothers you that much I'll go pull the yearbook and take a pic of it.

I did back in the day but the course we used mostly was in the woods. It had a little tower. We would do capture the flag teams and then rotate. Last man standing free-for-als was fun too.

The competitive stuff with the inflatable bunkers was never fun to me.

We had a similar setup at a guy's house who i went to high school with. There were a ton of essentially fortifications that one team would get, and the other would defend them. The team in the fort almost always won.

One time me and a buddy decided we were going to go through this cornfield around the back of the fort. It took us a while to loop around to flank. We had to crouch walk or even crawl parts of it to get by unnoticed. We finally make it around and sneak in the back, I'm sneaking up for a shot on one guy and my buddy is supposed to get the other. He fires his shitty gun way too early, it makes a loud pop and the paintball just rolls out of the end of the barrel. Guy he was shooting at, who had the best gun of any of us that could essentially shoot full auto, heard it, turns around, lights us both up.

My first time playing, a friend and I just bought some single-shot pistols and went out in a field. We had no idea what to do, so we just kinda ran around in circles, shooting at each other. I had a pair of Nike athletic shorts on (not recommended.) As I was running, left side to my friend, with my right leg forward, a paintball hit me in such a way as to catch one of my testicles between the paintball and my leg.

The pain was unbearable. As I was rolling on the ground, thrashing, I inadvertently rolled into a bed of fire ants.
I didn't even notice due to the pain in my ball sack.

But anyway, tons of fun. Plus, every time I played after that felt like a cake walk.

10/10, highly recommend.

We used to freeze the paintballs first before playing

I remember we built forts in woods with a big open grass field between each side. But we just had wars, we used paintball guns with full auto and frozen paintballs, BB guns, air soft guns, Roman candles, bottle rockets, paintball claymores, paintball grenades.

Lucky nobody ever got seriously injured. I miss being a kid
