I cut my own grass, always have. It gives me a little exercise and also there are no strangers in my yard.

67 years old. Retired. Do everything myself even though my son in law has a landscape company. Love my 48” zero turn and John Deere Self propelled walk behind. Very therapeutic. Do some of my best thinking while mowing. Love Site One for all my pre, post emergents etc. Take care of my own pool and koi pond too. Mentally rewarding.

My next door neighbor. $40 and does a great job.

Yes, I’m not wasting my weekends cutting grass.
Posted on 6/14/25 at 7:06 pm to TechDawg2007
Did when I was working (covered 6 states). Now that I’m retired I enjoy taking care of the yard and garden.

Absolutely. I grew up cutting 7 acres and swore never to cut grass again. I have two acres and pay $100 weekly to have three guys knock that out in an hour. I don’t have to buy, store or maintain all that equipment. Money well spent.

Occasionally when I’m working a lot

Yes pay 130 a month for cutting and maintenance. I don’t mind paying to have extra time to do other things or time with family

I don’t even own a mower or weed-eater any longer. I have a crew who mows, trims, and cleans everything up every two weeks. They trim the hedges about every other month. A regular mowing is $80, when they do the hedges it’s $150. And they do a a good job. Well worth the money.

Yes, every week. Very worth it. 4 dudes descend in the property and cut, weed eat, and blow the trimmings. They take like 10-15 minutes and it’s a breeze.

Kids? Yeah I'd do it, adults? Hell no.

Nah, it bugs me to know that if I just wasn’t lazy I can do it myself.
Getting a haircut and and washing my car fall under the same category

I have 4.5 acres. I do it all myself.
I find it cathartic.

A few years ago I decided to let the crew doing two of my neighbors yards take care of the front yard. We got a group discount. They park the truck in front of my neighbors house and one guy gets on the mower while the other two are doing the edging and weedeating. When they’re all done they each get a backpack blower and each hits one of the three houses.
I still do the backyard but that is the best money I spend every month. The front yard at my house is small, but there’s a tree with a brick border around the bed, the sidewalk, driveway, and along the road to edge. I used to take care of it all but the front took me twice as long as the back with all the beds and edge work. Wife likes the fact that the front always looks great and I like that I can get around to mowing the back at my own pace.

I live on a subdivision street corner, on a 1 acre lot. As such, I have roughly 100 yards of ditches to keep cut. Because I'm 65, I hire someone to weed eat the ditches and fence line every 2 weeks, and I cut/maintain the rest.
Maybe I'm too old, and/or not in shape, but weed eating those ditches is more than my back can withstand, so I hired a guy I pay $100 every 2 weeks to do it for me.
I intend to continue this arrangement for as long as I'm able to do so.

What kind of man doesn’t mow their own lawn? That’s a damn shame
It’s not worth my time or taking up space to store a mower in my garage to mow my own grass. I do enough manual labor every couple of months taking care of others places I own and lease.

Yes. But what I REALLY pay the for is to do the edging.....
Posted on 6/15/25 at 12:09 am to TechDawg2007
I pay. Years ago I had three homes, I paid to have them all cut.

I think I saw a movie about this before. The man startles the woman sitting by the pool while she is tanning nude.
