Money aside, I think a push mower gives a cleaner cut plus it takes up far less space. Also good for some exercise. Mine isn't a true push mower though, I have a Honda self propelled 21inch. Have thought about getting one of those Toros with the larger deck but I'd probably regret moving from the Honda.

Easily a better cut. I have the same mower. Does a great job.

Nah, Toro makes quality stuff. Mine is a Toro. It is electric though. That way, I can cut my grass at 0700 and not piss off all the OTers.

False. I have wealth. More than I need. My free time is still worth no more than another's.

What you meant to say was

"The more pretentious you are, the more you inflate the value of your time".

You are missing the point. You can't buy more time, more time with children, with your wife, with family and friends. It is the only fully fixed asset you have. Anytime you do something that takes you away from those (unless you love it more) you are passively saying that the money you save is worth more than the experience you trade. The more dispoable income you have the more dollar value that time represents. Someone just out of school that cuts his own grass instead of spending time with family and friends is completely different math than later when he has plenty of money to pay for his grass being cut if he continues to do it he is assigning a different value to the time he misses doing other pursuits by himself or with family and friends, simple as that.

I bet.

You’re the same people who will post in the next “I have to cut my lawn at 7 a.m. before it gets too hot” thread. Putting your fat asses behind a mower for 30 minutes a week as your only exercise doesn’t make you manly, hoss.

About an hour. Takes me about 40 min to cut this yard and I still have juice left.

I actually did just post that very thing. Not that it is the only excercise I get. I do it because I have other manly things, that you would not understand, to get done as well.

Not me, I mow mine usually in the afternoon.

As far as a fat arse, not even close, bud. I workout 5 days a week. Mowing doesn’t count for that to me.

Again, you do you.

I cut my grass, change the oil and do maintenance on my vehicles and house.
It isn't about the money or time to do it (I'm happily retired), it's because I still can and when that day comes and I can no longer do those things, I will gladly pay someone else to do it.

Interesting, may have to check that out next time I look at getting a mower.

Unless someone is spending half a day doing their yard, the my time is valuable crowd is pretty ludicrous.

Nah, not passively saying anything. Quite overtly said that many overvalue the worth of their time. Disposible income doesn't even belong in the conversation. If you are pretentious enough to believe that your time is somehow worth more than anothers, well I do not know what to say. Basically your time is worth whatever the going rate for the task being done is. Your time mowing grass is the exact same as anothers. What you are saying is that mowing grass is beneath one of your stature. That is very pretentious.

If I was a vascular surgeon or head coach at LSU, I would not cut my own grass, change oil, or lots of other things.

But I’m not either of those.

Grass cutting does help me zone out or think uninterrupted.

Changing oil and fixing cars reminds me of being poor so it keeps me humble.

Pool and hot tub maintenance isn’t that much time and I enjoy having one.

Fixing things gives me a sense of accomplishment and you learn things that make other projects/fixes easier. Plus handymen really can be frickups and charge way too much for what they do. The internet is huge for allowing the average person to fix his own shite.

However the thing I’m ready for now is a housekeeper. Cleaning toilets keeps you humble too but it’s time to let that go. Haha

Nah I enjoy mowing my yard. I mow two other yards in the neighborhood for $40/ea. I look forward to mowing when I get home from work.

You’re kind of a Tard. I know what the going rate for my time at work is, and I know what the going rate for paying to have my lawn mowed happens to be. When I’m not working, I know how much I value the things that I enjoy doing, and paying to have my lawn mowed is far, far cheaper than the value of my work hour and the value I put on my free time. Call that pretentious all you want, but that’s only because you attribute some warped moral virtue to mowing grass. It’s odd, but you do you.

Doesn’t matter what his or anyone else’s standard is. If you take care of your lawn yourself, it’s fine. If you pay someone, it’s fine.

Gotta say I love how you call people poor who do their own yards. Assumption is the mother of all frick ups.

Again, you do you.
