Nah, he likes them. They aren't the best value for the money, like Grant Stone or something, but they are a solid boot.

He must be polishing more than just your shoes.

I find shoe shining to be therapeutic. During army basic training it was one of the only times you could sit quietly and do something.

No, I bought mine because of the Rose Anvil recommendation. You might be thinking of the Wolverine 1000 mile boots. He didn't like those.

That was part of the appeal for me. It's a legit toe cap on the front. It's not just for appearances. I wear mine hunting and they clean up to look like new afterwards.

Damn. My guy charges ten. I tip 5. He uses all Saphir products.

Here is what you do. Get Saphir Renovateur. That is your conditioner. Then order saphir polish for whatever color you need. Get brushes and cloths of course. With a little bit of practice, you will do a pretty good job.

Shine your becket Simon's. You don't know how long they were on the shelf or in a warehouse. Always condition and shine them when you first buy a pair of shoes.

Probably my favorite pair.

I shine my own shoes but there used to be a shoe shine guy that had the whole set up at Benny's Car Wash that you could get while they washed your car.

My show boots probably are worth shining, but they won’t stay that way

I have 3 pairs of the same. It's amazing how long they last. I had other dress shoes before and they would last like 3 years before falling apart.

I have had them resoled at least 4 times...They are freaking awesome shoes. I will probably be buried in them.

Who in the world would pay $50 for a shoe shine?

A man should know how to shine his own shoes and iron his own shirts. But, if he chooses to pay someone else to do it, he shouldn't bitch about it.
This, and I'll add, don't even mention it, much less bitch about it.

My Pops grew up on farm and then was Airborne in WWII. He knew how to take care of leather goods.

He taught me to rotate the direction of my belt every day to keep if from turning into a Pringles Chip shape.

Who would pay $50? There is one in CA, has a YouTube channel, Preston Soto, he did a pair for me, charged $60 BUT I had a pair of shoes I had botched and didn't trust myself to correct.

I learned how to shine shoes in ROTC. It's not hard and is satisfying. It is hard to find stores these days where the clerk can point you to the appropriate polish for a particular non basic black shoe.

I shine my own shoes and have had my dad's shoeshine box with supplies for 30 years now (I have kept the cans, but have new product). Do a nice spit shine.

Mine looks like this just aged.
